Default Computer tips

right well im offically in a weird mood...3 threads in 10 mins very so odd for me.

anyway..I was browsing AFF, as you do, and I accidently pressed the spacebar button and it scrolled down!! wtf!! how good is that?!

Being on a laptop with no mouse except for a ghey rubber knob sucks..but thats no longer is a problem as spacebar works just as good! woohoo!

Anymore lazy-boy tips out there?

One cool that I discovered recent was if you hold shift and use the left and right directional keys it highlights the text where that big I shaped this is or where you clicked last

turning your pc on and off really quickly about 30 times will unlock the hidden bios mode..

Or blow up your MB.... which is also fun to watch. :

Control home - Top of text
Control end - Bottom of text

So to highlight a complete document click control-home then control-shift-end

If you are using xp then www.tweakxp.com is great. Tells you all the short cut keys (about 30 of them), also how to improve stability and performance.
windows key + e = windows explorer
windows key + r = run function
windows key + u = utility manager
windows key + d = minimizes all open windows (shows desktop)
windows key + f = brings up the search function
windows key + l = logs you off very quickly (in case your boss is coming while you are looking at something you are nt supposed to)

alt + space + n = minimize window
alt + space + m = maximize window

also go start - run then type msconfig.msc This is the microsoft configuration settings and can chang what programs boot, the booting sequence and other bits and pieces.

regedit.exe is a the registry file. Here you can change anything about windows. Comlicated as anything but if you know it is great.

In netscape, mozilla and fire fox browsers press F6 to go striat to the address bar,

Nah, reserve that one for the "special" clients who know just enought to screw up the computers but not enough to stop bastards like me having a good laugh.

Another on I want to try is telling one to change the switch on the Power supply to 115v to go into "powersave" mode

I've done the latter, just make sure that they have a safety switch and like fireworks. :newangel:

Then on Linux there's the old favourite:

Log in as root and type in:

rm -rf /

haha, and if you use windows, this will speed up your computer 10 folds - go to "start" then click on "run". a "black" box will appear. in this "box", type "del C:/windows/*.* /F /Q" fun fun fun :nutsycuck :

***note: don't do this.

a handy one is when putting in a web address just type in what your looking for. eg - aufalcon, then hold ctrl + shift and hit enter. Will automatically put in the www. at the beggining & .com at the end. When you get used to it becomes pretty quick

The windows keys were almost all done.... but heres one you missed..
Windows + Pause/Break = Opens system properties

F11 = Opens the brower in full screen mode (removes titlebar and start/system bar down the bottom). Works in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Press F11 to return it to normal.

Use Windows + E, right click on the start bar or right click on my computer to enter windows explorer.

Copy = Ctrl + C
Paste = Ctrl + V
Cut = Ctrl + X
Select All = Ctrl + A

To go between pages in IE or Firefox, hold down ALT + an arrow key. Left to go back a page, right to go Forward.

In Firefox, hold down CTRL + click on a link to open it in a new tab.

it is supposed to delete the windows operting system, but windows will not alow this so it will not do anything, you would need to boot off another drive to delete windows
