Currently have 200kw AU2 XR8 auto, worst has been 440km to the tank approx 15lt/100km (all city driving). Does 10lt/100km open road (have seen over 700km for the tank on a couple of occasions). Most of my driving gets 12-13lt/100km or 500-550km per tank. What fuel improvment does the flash tuner get? 10% i've read in places. Would be worth the price if it payed its way I think.
Previously had an AU1 Futura (higher gearing than the XR) it could see 900kms per tank if you cruised open road, thats impressive for a big car (7.5lt/100km).

Sounds like yours is pretty good to start with. Very similar to mine when std. But you will see definite improvements with a custom tune which will make your engine more responsive and usually more economical in the process. It will be nicer to drive 4 sure than the factory program. Heaps more low down torque too.

For my 220kw XR8
about 18-20L per 100km around town

12-14L per 100km highway

AND NOT BLOODY HAPPY WITH IT.

WTF does it use so much fuel

At the moment around 12l per 100. When the T3 motor goes in definently I wont be seeing that.

It may all depend on how long you sit at this lights, traffic conditions, wind direction and, of course, right foot inputs.

Engine coolant temp can also be a contributing factor. If it is running to cold or is constantly in cold mode because something as simple as the thermostat is stuck fully open and not regulating, then it maybe running rich all the time. This occurred on my Pursuit. It is now even more economical and idles smoother. Is the exhaust really black?

There are many other factors that can contribute to excessive fuel comsumption. The above are possibly just a few. Even aftermarket air cleaners have been known to increase fuel consumption over time. Especially if they are over oiled.

Food for thought maybe!

have you played with your shift settings?
i've noticed that using the tamer end of the settings will give better economey.

yeah i play with my shift settings....

its called clutch + throttle = smoking tyres lol

seriously though, I dont know why its punishing me, I did just re-oil the filter on saturday, plus cleaned 02 sensors, but they looked new anyway. Temp wise it sits on the 'O' of Normal, or about 92^C coolant temp. I run 98 octane ultimate in it

Sounds like all the usual suspects are checked. Poor factory tune? edit perhaps to lean it out? or is it just over keen throttle application?

Not sure of km's per litre etc, but I did a trip from Bendigo to wadonga and back again, with a bit of driving in between, plus a return trip to winton and back again to wadonga, and got a surprisingly massive massive MASSIVE 784km's, till i ran out of fuel less than a kilometre from home on the way back. Im pretty rapt with that.

16.45/100 on LPG = 6.07Kms per litre LPG
not too bad for the way I drive

322kms for $28.50 not bad for a Auto 6 cyl family car

Well ... I get a varied range ... it depends though on a lot of variables.

These are just averages too mind you.

Highway/Freeway: 11-12L/100km (depends on load)
Cruising/outer metro: normally I get around 600km from 75-80L = around 12.5-13.3L/100km
Metro: around 550km from 80L (depends on the type of driving as well) = around 14.5L/100km
inner city/heavy traffic/towing: Regularly see 19-20L/100km ... maybe a tad more ... depends on load and traffic.

Last year I did close to 80,000km ... not as much as I was expecting ... but the majority of it was Sydney metro with a lot of stop-starting.

Only have 190,000km on it ... so it's still fairly young ... I don't really push the ute hard (as I need it for work ... plus it only runs on LPG) ... is serviced regularly (oil and filter done every 5000km religiously) ... and it's my 2nd home as I am in the thing for so long.

Not too bad for a dedicated LPG ute ... 25% of the time it is unladen ... but when i carry load ... it's loaded up

Cool revs at 105 km hour

could some au falcon drivers inform me of the rev range of thier car at 105 ks an hour.....

for example my car sits on about 1750-1800 maybe this is the reason i am getting such good fuel economy... and the fact i dont really give it a hard time at every take off, with the tires smoking from the lights...but i do give it a gutt full every now and then....he he gotta blow the cob webs out
