Great engine in pristine condition with only 9500kms traveled

Burtons in the UK have all sorts of stuff to convert them to North south.

Im not to sure what clutch Im going to use yet. Im either going to the wreckers
to grab a stock standard flywheel and get it lightened.
I have a friend with 3axis cnc mill and another friend with a lathe and mill so I might make one from scratch or modify the pinto flywheel if its possible.

Apart from that the T9 gearbox might not hold up too well. I was reading a cartam build up where the the guy installed a t9 behind a 245hp duratec and it cracked the cast iron casing on his first test run around the block. ITB's should get me to 200hp So Im looking for alternative gearbox's as well.

Nope, that's not the one I was thinking of. Good to know you got some use out of my endless ebay trawling though :P

If you're looking for alternative gearboxes, I'd recommend a W58 toyota box. Just make sure you get one out of a celica, or another passenger car, because the hilux/hiace ones have a REALLY short 1st and 2nd...

Not sure if your still watching this thread GTPaul, but what about a Mazda MX5 gearbox and clutch? They'd just bolt onto the Duratec and won't be the weak link in the driveline.

Get a custom tailshaft and your set!

Who has NC 6spd gearboxes? I'm haven't spotted any, although I'm looking.

... and I bought the first engine.... before joining this forum if that makes you feel any better.

Yeah Ive been searching for what type of g/boxes fit.
thats good info LS, so far all I came up with were ford ranger boxes and some mazda ones but the first/second gear ratio's were crap.

I am guessing they are 5speed boxes ...just what i want. Six speed would be ok too.

If anyone else knows of suitable RWD boxes please let me know on this thread.

Thanks BlackLS and Mullet for the input so far :
soon to have the stock intake of an 07focus mint condition plus the fly by wire TB up for grabs. soon as I make a pattern of the mating surface(if that makes any sense)

I could use the stock TB to make a big-bore one up as a changeover item for people...

hmmmm....

Good info oin the MX5, that's handy. I bet you could get a box from J, and even a new one might not be too painful...

actually, come to think of it...i'll have the manifold as well. Supercharger anyone?

As far as the mating surface...buy an inlet gasket. MUCH easier

If you're planning on registering it, are you still running the stock ECU?
