my sump gasket arrived today. so now i have to put the sump on and install the engine to the gearbox.. now heres the question....
should i install:  : the engine first, then the extractors.the engine and extractors together the extractors first and then fit the engine to the exhaust and bell housing. thanks |

Sterling,
Easiest way is to bolt gearbox to engine and put that in, then bolt up extractors. You'll just be making things really hard for yourself if you try to fit them to motor before slipping it in engine bay. I doubt it even do-able with brake booster sitting where it does. Rhys

no i test fitted it, it looks like it will fit without hitting the brake booster. cuz the extractors were from a stock mk2 rs2000
but what are you saying? take the gearbox out and put the engine and box in together? |

on another note, i test fitted the 2.0 engine a while back and it will fit but it cannot be put in with the alternator, that has to be put in after the engine in.

engine and gearbox is easier to go in together.
keep extractors off, cos you need all the room you can get.

went for a test fit today. and thought, what about just sliding the gearbox backwards a few inches.. then slide it back onto the engine when its in...? this doable?

dont really care if it can be hard, its all experience cuz im a 1st year apprentice just started.
the clutch is already aligned so the gearbox is ready to go on, i think that is the only option i have right now the only person who could help me is my dad right now... and hes kind of old lol |
