Exclamation Looters Forklift Ferrari

Looters forklift Ferrari

Former Tunisian president’s Ferrari being looted by forklift. Image: screen shot from YouTube video
Tunisia's ousted president Ben Ali's Ferrari stolen by looters with a forklift.

While the reports of riots and looting in Tunisia may have slowed, new extraordinary footage posted on YouTube shows how some citizens decided to take matters into their own hands - or even their forks.

An exotic Ferrari sports car that belonged to exiled former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was filmed being "repossessed" by a group of men using an oversized forklift.

The video posted on YouTube shows a yellow Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano loaded onto the forks of an oversized lifter driving down a major road in the capital Tunis.

One of the men in the cabin of the forklift shows gives the cameraman a thumbs up, yelling: "It is our money here!"

Their money indeed - the Ferrari was worth more than $300,000 when new. There's been no word as to what happened to the car (or the gentlemen repossessing it).

The original footage was shot by the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation, and also shows the destruction in the wake of angry citizens looting the ex-president's mansion.

Former Tunisian president Ben Ali fled the country after protests broke out across the country against his regime.

Do you want one with or without the forklift?

Well this thread's been a giggle, but it's become a little fragmented, and basically political. Closing but will leave viewable.
