Default Noisy Front End

Hi,

My AU Series 1 Wagon has had a noise for a while now in the front end suspension. i can feel it through the footrest. On big bumps or potholes the suspension is normal and quiet, but on small bumps it rattles!

I replaced the shocks and put in nolathane bushes in about 18 Months ago. I can't feel any movement in the wheels when the car is on the jack, so i assume its not the wheel bearings or ball joints.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Car has done about 220,000kms

Cheers

PJ

i would still be a bit suspiciouse of the ball joints, are you sure its not the exhaust or something rattling, steering rack looseness, if all else fails i don`t think its a lot of dollars to have a front end check at one of these alignment places, Pedders, computerline ,etc, sometimes its not force that shows the worn part its technique.

Sounds like a ball joint to me ... that's what mine sounded like when they needed replacing.

Didn't really see movement until it was on a suspension tester with the front wheels loaded up anyway.

I'd be getting top and lower ball joints replaced as a matter of service. 220K on the original bits is good life. Thank God the AUs don't wear like the Territory!
