Yeah plenty of people have done it. Just carry a can of that tyre foam stuff incase you ever get a puncture. Were you thinking of making a sub enclosure in the tyre well or putting something else in there?

In the tyre well. It is more about keeping the weight down.

Some new cars don't even come from the factory with a spare tyre. They just have a tyre repair kit. I'd still carry a spare just to be on the safe side. When a piece of metal blew off the back of a truck and into mum's front tyre, it left a hole the size of a 50c piece. No tyre foam would fix that!

The law for nsw is that if the vehicle was factory fitted with a spare then you must carry one in rw condition.. If fitted with space saver you must carry it.. If fitted with tyre repair kit you must carry it and the can must have some contents..

My boots..

No Spares and no problems with police.. RACV ALL THE WAY!!!

Cheers,
Nik

Well if all you get is a warning and no fine in NSW maybe it's worth the risk? Does anyone know if they check the spare for nsw car rego?

I have heard of people being given a yellow defect for not carrying a spare..

And yes i do believe they check the spare at nsw roadworthy as it is an item on the roadworthy list as it must be in good condition with decent tread.. etc..

Most people just put the spare back in for roadworthy anyways..

Cheers,
Nik

Really.. Cos i just been tidying up my girlfriends r31 skyline for nsw rwc and the rwc place told me i needed to put a spare in the boot in the factory spot and then he would pass it.. along with a few other bits like window winders.. LOL..

I actually had the spare fitted to the car cos one of the rims was 365 grams heavy on one side.. it was shaking to buggery..

Cheers,
Nik

Did it run out of rego as in your going for a blue slip not a pink slip?
