Default Cars for Cancer, a hypothetical :)

The latest cars for cancer lottery is about to close (25/11) and there are a few tickets left if any of you are keen www.carsforcancer.com.au

The prize is a choice between some strange looking boganmobile with a dinosaur pushrod V8 and a shiny FG F6.

My second F6 was actually a cars for cancer prize that I bought off the dealer as the winner didn't want it (they wanted a RAV 4 instead).

SO:

If you won the cars for cancer prize what would you do?

That the F6? Take the R8? Trade it for cash? Trade it on a different model FPV/HSV? Trade it on a completely different car?

To make it easier for the hypothetical, trade for car is 80% of new value, cash is 70%

And just for something completely different there is a poll.....

My vote is to take the cash, buy something like an XP or XM to fix up and put the rest on the mortgage....if there's any left

I'd take the cash, simply because I honestly could not afford the Insurance on an F6. If I was in a position where insurance was affordable, F6 no doubt.

I'd keep the car (F6, obviously) . You never look a gift horse in the mouth.

At the end of the day, when it comes time to replace the car, you will still have a car worth something.

I am rather dismayed that the majority would take $50k cash instead of $77k worth of F6 (or R8).....and you call yourselves car enthusiasts.....

Where do you think the cash is coming from?

It is from selling the prize, they don't actually give you a cash alternative...

I'd take the F6, keep it for a couple of years and then sell it to either buy a house or help pay off a house depending on if I own one by then. Even if it's only worth 40G in a couple of years thats still 40G more than I have now.

How cany any true blue blood pass up owning an F6 (assuming they don't already or haven't in the past), even if it's only for a little while?

Perhaps if you had of asked the same question two years ago you would have had a different answer. I'd like a new F6, I'd love a new GT but $50k would pay to finish my reno's - without me doing it all. Add one sweet little bundle of joy that has retired my wife and the cash would be nice to have... I used to know what that was like!!
