I'm getting quite concerned about the overuse of exclamation marks.... Either vfloverboy doesn't know when they're supposed to be used or he's getting really really excited...

So either he's gonna have a coronary soon or we are heading for a worldwide shortage of exclamation marks.

The sv6 motor isn’t as strong as the i6 falcon but the rest of the package is better.

these cars won’t age well. The 6 is an old engine that idles poorly. The 8 is far better but the tech and chassis is sadly lacking in the fgx.
And it is exactly why I love the car.
I honestly cannot stand all the junk in cars now.

All I want is a stonking engine and a sound chassis that can handle all the power I throw at it.
FGX provides it.

You sound almost as foolish as myself when i opted to purchase a car with proven reliability over mod cons that are known to fail, such as motors prematurely. Had i been in the financial position to buy a new car every 2 to 3 years then there would be no issue and i jump on whatever car i feel is better. And yeah the vf sv6 doesnt look bad on face value at all. But my 10 year old bf ghia hasnt put a foot wrong mechanically in its quest to push 200 thousand and neither has the ex wifes mark 2 fg. Its all subjective and up to personal preference. I will say a 60/40 split rear seat is a lot more practical then a ski hatch.

Yep particularly with them being the last of the breed.
Less gadgets the better.

As you say not such an issue when turning them over but no such thing as a new falcon/Commodore anymore.

Yeah, but that means nothing to materialistic people or fleet buyers. They both either go for the most economically viable option fit for purpose on the market or purely whats available at the time.

Even better just look at road and boot it and keep your boot in and enjoy the head rush which is only stopped by the “chip.... chip... chip” chime which sometimes you still ignore as you are having too much fun to be reigned in and are only pulled in by the limiter.

I like the simplicity of the FGX XR8. Only thing that sucks is winter traction and rear end tramping.

The design is all over the shot, but hey at least it has Cheap Chinese DRL’s lol! The FG were Hella brand headlights but the FGX is a cheap Korean Unit! Should have just continued the Mk2 because was such a nicer package! ESP the FPV models! I would have an FGMk2 GT over an FGX XR8 anyday looks way better.
Kind of agree with this bloke. Ford didn't do the FGX many favours even with the things they could control. Colour options were beyond outdated aside from Kinetic. Anyone seen the interior brown leather combo on so many of the FGX G6E's? Come on. Even with the DRL's he's right, they legitimately look like 2010 ebay cheapies. The lack of interest in the design of the car does show and you can't afford to do that in today's market. For how many years did we wish Ford were reading this forum and granting our wishes? I also agree that the FG Mk2 was the best model range all around from base model to FPV...

The Falcon is no longer in production, we should be able to talk about these things if we choose too. I wouldn't be here if I didn't own a Ford and have interest in them but we can't be expected to all be blind sheep.

Fair enough I see people bagging out the fgx , i hated it at first but quickly came around to it and admired it so much I bought one , the more I look at it the more I like the styling I also like the VF styling but think the VF won't age well ..... the fgx will just like the AU did compared to VT .....the AU was rubbished for it's styling yet look how well it's aged the T series sold poorly yet mechanically it was in my opinion superior to the competition and was more than a match for BA .....similar to the T series the fgx has the best mechanicals Ford Aus has ever had

Just watch them become more desirable a la AU

I know beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder, but far out an FGX xr series car looks menacing in the rear view. But that said I'm also a big au fan so most will brush me off
