Glad I kept my iphone 4. I am now going to get the iphone 5 (have two contracts) when the samsung is returned it will just be kept incase the iphone 4 dies.

Standard pcb failure. Very common in a 3mth old S3. Mines been done too. It's been 3mths since and it's been perfect. It took 5 working days to get back via telstra.

And that is the very reason it will be relegated to spare phone on it's return. A 3 month old phone should not just die, let alone have soooooo many of the same phone with the same issue, then it just get's replaced with the same crappy pcb. Bit like the original 360's and the rrod. I just won't trust it to be a daily phone anymore.

Not sure what a pcb is but mine got sent back to be repaired because it randomly one day decided to turn off and not turn back on. I still love mine though!

You guys using Samsung Kies Air with your computer and phone?
Also just had a play with Samsung's music Hub which looks as though it might be the best thing out there for music.

Not a tech guy with phones at all, in fact don't really like them because in effect it chains me to being available on call to clients too much BUT I must admitt i've seen a few people with these new Galaxy S3's and they do look super cool and there's some cool apps for sure.

I don't have the world's best eyesight by any means, so within reason what would be the best for me, this S3, the 5.5 inch Samsung Note 2 or the 7 inch tablet ?

I want to make and receice phone calls, e.mails, surf the web, waste more time on here , music downloads, use it as a GPS in my car and be portable and relativly easy to carry, (best if it fits in a jacket pocket) with good battery life and basically the bigger the screen the better.

Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread but are there any suggestions for this tech novice ?

I must say my Galaxy 3 is now six months old and has been fault free and fantastic! And as I use it for business, it gets a huge workout!

@rodge
I'd say the note is the go mate but best to visit a store and see how big it is. They are bigger than I'd like to carry.. Also they should be able to demo both units so you can test your sight :-) can't go wrong either way!

The 4g ones may not have the same fault but the 3g ones definitely do.

Check what you have installed, go to settings then to battery to see what is actually using the power.

Lastly if its legit there is an official samsung battery upgrade.

I have an iphone 4 for work and an s2 and the iphone is by far worse on battery and i dont even use it.

It says the screen is using 46% followed by Android os at 21%.

What's the battery upgrade? I am charging this phone twice a day.

Something wrong there, mine says Screen is using 80% Android os 4%
There is 50% left in the battery which it says gives me another 14+ hrs.

What Android version is in yours?

My previous phone was an HTC Desire HD, which I thought was great, but was terrible in battery usage. My SIII lasts twice as long.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the battery upgrade came with Android 4.1.1 (JB) release. When I was on the original 4.0.4 (ICS) version, my 'Cell standby' (in Settings, Battery) was very high and 4.1.1 fixed this.

However, I sometimes charge twice a day 'but' only to keep the battery charge high.
Battery issues/longevity is a PIA with all smart phones, too many variables; apps, usage, screen brightness etc...

Nah the s2 had an official physical battery upgrade kit.. Pretty sure there is an s3 one too.

Make sure auto brightness is on, it makes a huge difference. Also decrease the backlight time out down to a bareable amount.

Edit _ official battery upgrade comes out this year. Mobi city sell third party kits though.

I've got android version 4.1.1. Have always had it on auto brightness but have now put it on a lower brightness to see how it goes.

I must admit that the plan I'm on comes with 3gb download so I am using it up!

That could be why lol! 3g or 4g downloads burn battery.. Sustained downloads are better on wifi.
