It's not about him punching or hitting an animal is it, it's really about normal folk being outraged by the actions of their " brain dead fellow Australians "
This is Anarchy at its worst, where folk elect other folk to rule the State or Territory hoping that they made right choice, and the elected person is not swayed by public opinion to stay in power!

Coppers have a lousey job, but who do folk call when in trouble?..well the police of course, and a few days earlier they were putting them down, I hate that, if ya hate coppers then don't call em to help out, but the poor horses in amongst all the noise and missiles are very nervous, trying to control a horse and a mob and dodge missiles is bloody nerve wracking, these idiots deserve to be locked up and made to clean out the police stables!....with a short handled shovel, and a hangover.....

Yeah, no one calls the mounted police when they need help. Cops don't need horses for transport anymore. Cops use them as an act of aggression and intimidation against only unarmed people. Can't wait until they ban mounted police for crowd control.
They don't belong in the midst of a bunch of people in a city because they're dumb animals that scare easily. Either they're going to hurt someone or get hurt themselves.
Anyone remember last year in the UK where they used horses and one freaked out, throwing the copper and bolting through the crowd?

Horses scare off some people, but other types of people will step up the violence when confronted with them. My point is cops uses them is them stepping up aggression anyway.

Obviously some people think defense against a large dumb animal is abhorrent? I'm not so sure about that as we kill animals every day because usually we put humans higher than all animals because we have more law given rights.
I bet some are going to think I approve of the protest (I don't), or give examples how they'll happily kill someone for their pet (I don't care). You know humans kill or use animals every day.

People that like cops, like horses, or hate either should be able to admit to themselves it's not safe to use horses for crowd control anymore. Their days are over. Where were the water cannons? Probably consigned to the history books where mounted police should be too. Defund the (mounted) police

Yeah water cannons would be much more effective.

Or maybe even an electromagnetic beam device.

OK everyone.

This thread is about COVID and not about how authorities deal, or don't deal with protests etc.

Also, let's leave giving out legal advice to the professionals.

Any further posts that are off topic will be deleted.

Sorry PG2 just deleted my post as I did not see yours.
I would like to say one thing though I find it strange how authorities bagged the protests against lock downs but Black Lives Matter protests were accepted.
Weird world we live in.

Do BLM protests risk spreading an already highly transmissible virus?

In case anyone has forgotten, the world is still in a pandemic.

Guys, I have my own opinions on these sort of things as well but I don't post them up here because on top of being a moderator and I like to try and stay neutral, I also just don't think this is the appropriate platform to discuss these sort of things.

We don't seem to see much of it in this thread but I would like see more posts from personal experiences. I can't believe I am going to say this, but BENT_8 posted something up the other day about one of his personal experiences and out of the 12,000 odd posts so far, I think it was one of the best.

I would like to see more posts of not only how COVID and subsequent restrictions have affected them but how they have coped with it and maybe give some other members here that may in fact be struggling some ideas on how to cope with it themselves.

To me, forums are all about sharing personal knowledge and experiences to help each other out, however, all I mainly see in this thread is a bunch of members having ****ing contests.

Lets just stay on topic.

Police will review all footage and make charges where they see fit

Same as the press keep hassling him about the removalists, he keeps saying the same thing, Police are involved and are investigating - he is not going to give away to headline hunting media what the police are doing

Default Re: Covid 19 -

One of the things I’m exposed to by dint of the restrictions and related interstate enmity is how impacted some older people are. A neighbour is in her early nineties; eighteen months ago she and her slowly dwindling circle of friends enjoyed a balance of outings, mutual visits and phone chat, with the more able physically aiding the less so. Many were ex religious orders, or otherwise bereft of close family. Almost none relied on any regular form of aged care support. I was acquainted with quite a few as they often shared rides home from lunch with a designated driver.

Two out of their three social activities are now gone. One member has effectively become deranged by the lack of physical socialisation. Another has become so depressed they are unable to look out for their welfare; a succession of injuries with poor recovery has pushed them towards a nursing home. My neighbour herself misses the periodic interaction with extended family and incidental social events - visits to the local club, the pastry shop, neighbours just dropping in.

Theirs is a void unable to be practically filled by sending in people to visit for “social support” on an aged care package. Staff are frequently transient, often sourced via agencies; many are young migrants or on study visas - from experience it’s rare to find durable ones with commitment and empathy. Caring is not a good job for people who deeply care; the strictures of engagement are harsh.

Yesterday my cousin called. An able mind inside a failing body as he approaches ninety. We are unspokenly resigned to a possibility we may not meet again - despite being less than 1000km apart by road.

Earlier this morning, a call from the nursing home where my father has been in respite almost four weeks. Another fall - his third - a head strike and cut to the eyebrow; off to RNS for inspection. We had a three week respite booking, when Sydney restrictions were tightened it was agreed he would stay longer as the facility had a better rate of staff making it to their job than outworkers currently. I’m not blind to the reality that he may die sooner than later, exacerbated by the ban on visiting and loss of familiar ground.

This is a good part of why I feel disappointed at the lack of governmental willingness to state (and commit to) some longer term practically achievable targets as a counterpoint to restricting.

I'll preface this post with the comment that I'm not asking this question as a way to stoke the fire of the State competition for who did best.

A question for those of you in Sydney impacted by the current restrictions. There is some discussion in the media that the lockdown in Sydney may continue through to the end of August or possibly even into September, whilst there is speculation that both South Australia and Victoria will end their lockdowns in the next couple of days.

Given what you have been through to date. and with the prospect of the restrictions continuing on for some time to come, would you have preferred to have gone into a more restrictive lockdown for a shorter period of time, similar to what other states have done?

A video doing the rounds has a NSW Health official stating that there are currently 141 people in hospital with Covid and 140/141 are fully vaccinated?

Has this video been doctored or is this an accurate statement?

The other day I read almost the inverse, of 43 people in (NSW) ICU only one was vaccinated against coronavirus.

Statistics from the state government will hopefully be plentiful today.

Aside from that I note the increasing rate of Bunnings being mentioned as an exposure site.

Saw this on twitter. Yes he said it. But I think he just said it around the wrong way. Later he was questioned and he clarified when questioned & said that out of the 43 in ICU, 42 were unvaccinated. But they left that out of the tweet.

This guy is incredibly awkward, don't know why they put him in front of a microphone. Getting details 180 degrees wrong when advising the public..... oh well.

the answer is simple and logical, they haven't started vaccinating children and teenagers - I will let you watch the video again and you make up your own mind

Hey Fox. Curious to know how regionals feel with being lumped into the lock down on the full 2 weeks, given you are from the regional east? I recall the Gippsland mayor came out and supported the previous lock down, but didn't hear anything about the current. 1 tier two exposure site in the entire east.

The original statement was the opposite. Old chap got his figures wrong and of course the anti vaxers ran with it.

He originally said 42 out of 43 in ICU were vaccinated. Then corrected it after being questioned by a journalist.

I'm happy to report that my guest, the former NSW resident and self confessed lockdown newbie, has been successfully reprogrammed and conditioned to the SA way of pandemic suppression and is happily awaiting release from hibernation.

Furthermore, it has been extremely satisfying to see her shouting abuse at her former neighbours for protesting and slaying the Police beast.
Infact, I'd go as far as to say I've created a lockdown loving monster and would the good people of NSW kindly take her back....please

BENT, of a population nearing 6M (Sydney) every single State has its small % of renegades who spoil it for the majority who are excercising the pandemic suppression as requested in doing so.
I'm sure no one is missing her, take her in my friend, there are people MIA forever

Fox, I don't look back, no point, my family complies what needs to be done, finger pointing and puffing the chest out won't help anything or change anything re the Gov/Health leaders who we're relying on, and our own fellow citizen actions.
I feel for those who are honestly suffering, family members in dier need of support, school kids and parenting, loss of jobs/business's etcetc, its a vicious domino effect all over with a copious amounts of calateral damage that in many case's won't even be known or reported.
Talk about a massive re set what once was pre covid.

On a random thought, I wonder how those in apartment blocks cope ?
I suppose I'm used to living and good piece of land, I have plenty to keep me occupied.
I suppose they are used to it but when you can't go in out like you used to surely your going bat crazy ?
