As to it being slow, it only takes a sec to move between screens. No bigy.
iPhone works very well with the system ( phone and iPod).

Honestly , no complaints.

Same here.
I'm still getting my head around the whole system and am finding that once you know what to "ask" for when using voice control, it works very well.
Touch screen is ok, however I find it distracting, but that is hardly a sync or Ford only issue.
I do like how the four functions (Nav/Climate/Audio/Phone) are separated into segments on the screen and how they can all be displayed on a "Home" screen or individual functions can be displayed with more detail by themselves.
That said, coming from a FG already, I find that most of the touch screen functions are duplications of the hard buttons already on the ICC and am finding I just use these as they require less attention than fumbling through touch screen.
Overall I would say sync is a worthy addition to the FG X but its something that needs familiarity to appreciated and not just a quick spin at the dealership.

Have u tried the advanced mode for voice control yet... Meant to make it heaps quicker when u get the hang of it.

So I've gotta know does aussie kazza in sync2 sound like an aussie? If so what state is she from cause if she's Victorian she will sound like a Mexican to me haha! ;-)

Yep. Aussie accent.
No particular inflection that I can notice.

Cheers.

So who was driving down on the Mornington Peninsula tonight for NYE in their Black XR8?
Anyone on here?

I couldn't take my eyes off it as it went past, looked absolutely fantastic and mean with it's DRL's.
Completely stood out in a sea of bland and boring cars.

Can't say I've found mine to be that slow. Its about the same as the touchscreen system in my 200 series landcruiser, and way faster and better than the system that was in my previous 2011 Volvo V60.

Want to see a poorly designed un-intuitive and slow system, go sit in a current Volvo!!

Was sitting in an XR6 ute, with full luxury pack while attempting to view an XR8 (which I've now ordered in smoke ). With both doors open, my wife was asking the sync2 for digital radio "mix80's" and all that was coming on was AM 864 , poor salesman was quite embarrassed that it wouldn't do what he was saying it would. I'm not that bothered, I'm sure it'll work fine once accustomed to its use.

I've driven probably 15 or so FGX's in various states of build and never ever had any issue with Sync being slow. It always responded without much of anything you would consider a wait.

Don't worry, it's today's society. People are that impatient, I'm surprised people aren't whinging that Sync doesn't know what part of the screen you want touched before you touch it.

Went out for a bit of a squiz at some of the cars getting about for the summernats today.

Saw a gold XR8 headed in the opposite direction down Northbourne Ave. We both pointed and smiled at each other as we passed each other.

This makes 3 FG X's I've seen now (not including mine), a kinetic XR8 like mine, coming back from Batemans Bay a few days ago and a Smoke XR6 about 2 weeks ago.
The new falcon is slowly starting to get about. NICE!

Cheers,
Garry.

With respect to FG X advertising, i'd be expecting the timing to tie in with V8SC season kick-off, with 'New Falcon' or and/or 'XR8' being seen in large lettering on the FPR cars, also. Odd how the same Territory ad keeps being run so frequently, though...

Its slower then the FG2 touch screen. But your meant to be able to use the sync screen with gloves on. But another thing I've noticed is if the screen isn't calibrated properly it becomes a pain in the bum.

Anyone see that Monsta Torque tuned a stock standard XR8, went from 301rwkw to 365rwkw, no mods, just a tune. Imagine once people start with the mods, full exhaust, intercooler, and for some of us, e85. Pushing 500rwkw?

This gives us an indication that the Territory name has a future and will continue on after the locally made model is finished. Unlike the Falcon name, which Ford have stated will be shelved once the old girl finishes in 2016.

Plenty of people have modded their Miami's with good numbers. I assume you're aware of this section http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=282 then you can get a good idea of the mods people are doing

Considering my n/a 6cyl is the most powerful car I have ever had, I'm not remotely aware of what can can be done, apart from CANFRY, but that's Coyote yea Brett??

Coyote is the American spec 5.0, with no supercharger.

Miami is the locally assembled supercharged 5.0 found in gt, gs , pursuit and xr8.

Check out some of the build threads in the 5.0 s/c section, especially Jim's or CAT600's builds and you will learn plenty. It's good reading.

Hi Garry

I agree with what you are saying. It's a good system. However I only have two minor issues I have identified now that I have had an opportunity to play with the system. The standard and quality of user manual is quite poor (when compared to what I had previously with my Audi) and the driver only warning message that gets displayed every time I switch to sat nav mode is a bit annoying. I can live with the manual but I am going to have to find someway to get the driver warning message deleted/romoved from the system.

Cheers, Brent

So the issue with Sync 2 is more you than the system. Driver only warning is standard in most satnav systems for obvious reasons.

Default Re: FG X, The Last EVER Falcon - Picture & Discussion Thread

I don't have a a problem using the Sync 2 functionality. In fact I find it easy to use. Have you seen or read the user manual? Based on other user manuals I have used and read for other types of cars that I have owned and hired in recent times it not a great standard or very user friendly.

I like to customise my display screens for the Navigation and Entertainment Systems in my cars which means I sometimes have to refer to the user manuals to configure certain features, icons and tools using the menu pathways. In my experience logic and common sense is not something that is always considered when these systems are developed and installed into cars. Hence the need to refer to user manuals for guidance.

It appears to me that very little investment has been made to provide a contemporary user manual for the Sync 2 system. This is demonstrated by the fact it has been printed in black and white and not in colour. My previous car had a full set of colour manuals and it made it very easy to use especially in distinguishing colours for maps, icons and screen touch buttons etc.

In regards to your point about most Sat Nav systems having standard driver warning messages I don't know whether or not this is the case. However on my previous 3 year old car that had a factory fitted Sat Nav there was no standard driver warning message displayed. In addition my wife has the latest TOM TOM Sat Nav functionality downloaded onto her iPhone and again there is no displayed warning message.

The point I am trying to make make in terms of the driver warning message is I get the safety message, but does it need to be displayed front and centre everytime I select to use the Sat Nav functionality. From my perspective it doesn't and as an owner I should be able to turn the annoying message off or remove it. It's not about my capability to use the Sync 2 system.
