If this sounds like a dumb question sorry but if I dont ask i wont know.
We suspect it effects basically all auto AU's however, for it to happen, there needs to be a decent amount of power going through the auto. At a guess I'm thinking the 145-150rwkw mark will see it make its presence felt. We are all guessing at the moment though as Sylox has the only proven case.

Well yes it looks funny 168fwkw vs 157fwkw and a hunderd extra kilo's it should barely be any different but then i believe ford rated the XR6 at 164fwkw to be less then the 165fwkw V8 and the VCY at 168 to be less then the AU V8175fwkw. They underated them for marketing purposes whats the bet.

Useless has lent me his GTech so, as soon as this crap rain goes, I'll do some real 0-100 runs. Personally, I think that URL has "issues" as the more I think of it the less I think 6.37 is possible. I "think" I have a 6.8 or 6.9 second car....thats a big difference from 6.3 or 6.4

Just took the GTech out today. Warm (VERY Warm) weather, average surface with some bumps (I could feel the rears fighting for grip in runs I did) and in full street trim (that means fuel, spare tyre, road air pressures etc) and ran a 6.84, 6.89 and 6.91 along with a 7.00 and a 7.01 on the good runs. a few other runs were high 7.0x or low 7.1x

In race trim I think that the 6.37 is pretty close to right.

AU2XLSV8 5.96 seconds (ute)
loxxr6 6.31 seconds (XR6)
Casper 6.37 seconds (XR6) - race trim
DeathXR 6.74 seconds (XR6)
Casper 6.84 seconds (XR6) - road trim
Jonbays 7.12 seconds (wagon)
Our blue xr6 7.20 seconds (XR6)
Useless 7.50 seconds (wagon)
Cheahman 7.60 seconds (XR6)
Dauphin 8.1 seconds (pimp mobile)
JCXR8 8.5 seconds (wagon)

looks like the calculator may be a bit optimistic then.

hand timed all I can say is mine will go under eight seconds to 100kmh. Mid 7's maybe.

Thats still not so bad an Auto TE50 220kw in "MOTOR" only ran 7.23 to 100k and 15.19 for the 400m??

So looking at the calculator it would be fair to add .5 second for everyday cars.Unless gtech times are done.

Maybe but I know when I race my car the spare wheel is out and fuel loads are minimal. Add that to a race prepped track and a cool night and I can see a 6.37 being not that far out of reach.

Admittedly its not road trim but I still think its reasonably accruate for the NA cars. I think turbos blow it away though as they spool up a bit later so the calc cant take that into account.

Casper - you're still 0.4sec quicker on the G-tech than me. I'm wondering if my G-Tech is broken? Actually it is, but only the suction cup that holds it to the windscreen. I use a velcro strap to hold it to the mirror. If it's not exactly "square" to the windscreen, would that affect the times it produces?

it shoudl be squareish... but it must read 0.0 when sitting flat, thats the most important. a mm or to off square wont make much of a difference

7.2 seconds for a AU1 XR8 is not slow...in fact its not bad at all. I have been lucky with mine, it is a good auto and it seems to get power on early.

I plan to have the first VCT and only the second I6 NA auto on AFF to get into the 14's. So I dont consider my car to be the average car anymore.

Thanks for trying to make me feel better Casper. I know 7.2 is reasonable. It's around 0.6 quicker than stock, so my money (on mods) has not been wasted.

Motor had this time for AU1 manuals as well as the AU2 TE50 auto. So, I'm in good company. I just want a 6.XX second car. Hell, who doesn't. Oh yeh, Gen 3 guys. They would be running on 6 cylinders to get a 6.XX. But apart from them.

Will have to be soon as its Useless's GTech he was kind enough to lend me. But yes, I'd like to see what the ute does.

Nothing to do about making you feel better, its simple maths. 7.2 is quick. Hell, I remember doing a 7.44 during the chip challenge and grinning like an idiot for a week. Only problem is speed it addictive and its never quick enough. I'm already working on something for the latter half of the year to get a bit more power from this HAD and hopefully pick up another 10th or 2/10ths. Its never enough.

I'll never have a car that can compete on the 1/4 with the big boys but I can certainly try to give them a scare for at least half track. If I get to the goal of 14.5 in this car I'll be a very happy camper. Its possible, just takes time and right decisions.

Well, i did some runs last night, and was not impressed at all with how the ute performed.
Could better no more then 9.8seconds on stalled launches, will try some variations tomorrow night and see if I can better the result. The engine just doesnt seem to have any guts at all(Couldnt even spin the rear wheels), but seems to enjoy using fuel as if it is performing. When the cam goes in, if I dont see enough of an improvement for me, I think I might look at buying something that I KNOW will perform, and has enough vendor support to ensure there are a wide variety of go faster equipment I can use on it.

Sourbastard, you should take it back to the place you got it chipped! My heavy Fairlane did 8.1 with just K&N panel filter, T-series snorkel, extractors and exhaust. Maybe the new paint on your engine made it hot?

I'm betting its the chip but not actually a fault.
If we all remember, he was going to get the chip and cam fitted the same day. So the chip was programmed for the cam. Now, since the cam didnt go in and the chip did, tell me what you think the A/F and timing is doing?
I'm betting that the chip, in its "cammed" state of tune, is probably doing more harm than good.
Once the cam is in and the chip is working with the ECU I'm betting a dramatic change in results.

I hope so shane, cause as its running now it would be a joke to take it down to the track. I'll do another run tomorrow night by myself and see if I can improve upon it with non stalled launches and varieties thereof. Then some more testing on Friday night after the cam goes in.

Sounds like a good explanation to me.

How far away is the cam install ?

i did a few G-Tech (0-60mph version) runs tonight on a nice bit of flat road out the back of Dapto...

Car is AU1 XR8 Ute (auto) with 160,000kms. Dunlop SP3000A tyres with 36psi in them. Shiftkits.com.au shiftkit, 80KM showing on DTE, otherwise stock.

Found the best launch by stalling the converter against the handbrake at ~1600rpm, then rolling on the throttle to avoid wheelspin. Shifted at 5000rpm.

Best 3 runs were 7.14, 7.06, and 7.09. I did a few more that where in the 7.2x's, they where with a bit more wheelspin.

I let a couple of runs carry on for the 1/4 mile and they were both 15.7x's (can't remember exactly because I didn't record them).

This sounds about right for an XR8 Auto to me. These figures don't sound great but in real world thats about how I find it XR8 Autos's don't get away from me but i don't beat em either

Talking 0-100kph

Guys,
My previous AU XR6 HP 5 speed used to do 0-100kph in 7.24sec N/A. When I went to the 9lb CAPA kit that dropped to 6.1, traction was then the problem. My BA XR8 does it in around 5.7sec, not bad for a 1.8 tonne barge.

Looking at the spec sheet for the T3, it quotes a 5.9sec 0-100, so there is a 0.48sec difference between the spec sheet and what I got using my 1/8 mile times and the calc.
