What I said but not in those words. Apparently Ford, not the Dealer does the ordering and allocation. As usual it looks like small dealers with low turnover like in tasmania get the short straw.

Found that one last night. Have sent details to dealer and he is trying to get it by swaping stock - easiest way for me as I have paid deposit and traded a car already.

Spoolman - will be in touch if nothing is sorted by Monday. Wife only like Lunar Sky as a colour but I do like Candy Red.

Golfer, Make sure the one you get is the newest model (arrived in Aus from November) with the GPS. There are still some "NEW" LW's being sold without the GPS.

Sat Nav not a big selling point for me. I got a 5" TomTom gps for $186. Got my car in Oct last year (no need to wait till may) If dealers are selling without GPS you should get a great deal and they could mabey throw one in to seal the deal.Portable GPS gan go in the other cars in the house too.

Personally! I couldn’t be bothered with the extra cable & having another item hanging off the dash or window! I’d prefer an integrated one any day!
If you work at it you can get great deals with or without it! In a few months you won’t get one without it anyway & it will be easier to sell a LW with it than without it.
I think for the majority of people it’s just a toy that gets used occasionally, as 95% of the time we know where we are going anyway 

Finally sorted.
The dealer could not get a petrol sport in Lunar Sky with Sat Nav. Some on cars guide were advertised with Sat Nav but did not actually have it.
Asked if we had considered a Diesel because there was one available in Queensland. Went for a drive and was surprised at the extra grunt compared to the petrol. Also it is very quiet - Can only tell it is diesel at startup and at idle.
Said we would consider it and he offered it at the same price as the petrol so
it will be here in a couple of weeks.

You'll be really happy with the diesel. Ours is great. When you first start it up and the engine is cold you can hear that it's a diesel but once it warms up it is just as quiet as a petrol engine. We are getting about 5.5 L/100kms. I think your situation has turned out for the best for you.

Good buying the diesel normally cost over $2k more.
Petrol and diesel Focus make the same power, then you look at the torque the turbo diesel makes 340nm to petrol I think its around 220nm..

Got the car on friday. Did about 350km over the weekend on a mixture of country and suburban roads. WOW is this a good car. Handling is great and ride although firm is very comfortable. The transmission is great and does not show any of the harshness/hestiation reported early on before the software upgrade. The deisel is quiet and does it go. Will post pictures elsewhere in the forum when I have time to take some and figure out how to load them.
One question. What tyres did your sport come with? Ours has Brigestone TuranzaER300. Grip seems good and they are pretty quiet. I am sure one of the demos we drove had continental and the othe had michelin.

Wow, unfortunate that you have to wait so long for the car!

I'm looking into buying a Focus Titanium Hatch myself so am still looking for a good dealer in Sydney.

Hopefully the wait for your car isn't extended any further!

Actually have the car a week or so earlier than the origional petrol car we ordered. When a long delay seemed possible the local dealer went out of their way to make sure we we got a cart within the promised timeframe. They got a diesel instead for no extra cost to us.
Well done Tilford Hobart.

I bought mine from Winford Ford which is out Richmond way. Picking up the car next week. I'm paying $36,590 for a 2012 Titanium petrol hatch with the sport pack. When i was first looking around, i was getting charged about 40k at other dealers.

Found that dealer yet? David Moore at Power Ford in Castle Hill was very helpful and knowledgable.

I got my 2011 Build Sport Petrol Hatch on Feb 10th, came with Continentals and only the 4.2" screen, going back to the dealer today to tell them I want the 5" which is what I ordered... and it arrived without an SD card... its on back order and will arrive some time this week WTF?

I wouldn't have handed over the cheque if it wasn't what I ordered. Can they change over the screen easily?

Something strange there mate. The 2011 model Focus only had a 4.2" screen, the 2012 the 5in. Sounds like someones playing silly buggers with you.

keep us informed.

Ours was built in 2011 but has the 5" screen.
All the Focuses that came into Australia frrom November onwards had the larger screen.
Even though ours was built in 2011, I think it's still called the 2012 model. (Bit confusing)

That's what's strange. The 4.2" screen was fitted to the early 2011 Focus, the last of the 2011 Focus were fitted with the 5" screen, and referred to as the 2012 Focus.

They are supposed to have changed to the 5" screen from Nov 2011 with the sat nav as standard in sports and titanium models-I have 11-11 titanium and it has 5" screen

Back... man I feel like a stooge. Looking at the pre Nov cars I can see mine has a larger screen. Egg on face I walked away laughing at myself.

Now just waiting for my SD card with the maps!

One other thing of interest you guys might want to know in regards to the iPod cable. Ford has the integrated usb/audio one for crazy money. My wife and I just went to Daiso (Japansese $2 shop in Richmond.. look it up) and bought a $2.80 ipod usb cable which actually has the same connectivity and doesn't need to be plugged in to the audio & usb port. It plays and displays the same and costs about $50 less!

We just use a normal iphone/ipod usb cable. It works fine. I was told that some older ipods needed the "special" cable.
