Don't know about the 5W-30 Penrite but I've been using the Penrite Enviro 5W-40 synthetic in my diesel Mercedes for the last 20,000 km's or so and it seems to be running very well indeed. I change the Merc's oil every 5,000 km's, its disgustingly black by then, but that's diesel engines for ya.
The new SRT8 runs full synthetic Mobil 1 0W-40. I was chatting to my mechanic the other day about synthetic oils and he reminded me that they're much better at handling high heat level's than conventional oils. Last edited by Rodge; 30-05-2014 at 09:32 AM. |

I use Penrite HPR 5 5W-40 for no real reason that I care for....just makes me feel good inside haha

I still stand by if you have 300 kW's at the flywheel the you need a 10w60 synthetic, and most of you guys have that plus. I have a high performance tracked Focus Filtergram on the slab at present, early days but he's making metal with a 0w40 and if we can't find anything wrong we'll start bringing the viscosity up and see if that stops it, so when performance is on the table, then what the maker says isn't always on the case.
