buy premium. It costs more but you get better mileage and its better for the engine in the long run

I don't really know which fuel has more energy or care for that matter. I did my own tests on the old territory and found that in city use, there was zero difference in l/100k over 3 tanks of using E10 vs 3 tanks of using 91 vs 3 tanks of using 95. (I did not try 98). So I happily used E10 on the territory.
The Wifes old vectra though is a complete different story. It hates E10. put E10 in it and economy goes from 9l/100 average on 95 to 12l/100k, plus it has bugger all power.
So I would suggest that it really depends on your engine and the driving style.
In NSW now most have got rid of 91 and replaced it with E10, so the choice is E10, 95 or 98. So older cars that would happily run 91 but are unhappy with E10 are now forced to use 95 at a premium price.

Good on Shell.

I don't want any ethanol entering my body, and I definitely don't want any entering my fuel tank.

it all depends on what petrol the engine is tuned to.
most euro/jap cars will require a higher octane, due having higher octane fuels over there.

It should be stated on every pump by law i would think. but QLD is the smart state.
MON DON NON SON they did know who i was talking about but they had nothing to say what it was. dude at the counter said he had to drain the tank on his bike once because of the same thing as it was only 95 and it ran like a goat.

Saw tonight on ACA 'United' are doing a promotional thing from this coming friday night Oz wide at selected stations for 24 hours.... E10 for 10c cheaper than regular petrol....They needed to do this years ago.... And keep it at 10c cheaper..... Too late sorry.... And the worst part is United is an Aussie owned independant fuel retailer and they have to do this... it's only worth it if it's cheaper buy a reasonable margin.
