IMO Ford screwed up the front of the Falcon just as bad if not worse than Holden has done with the Cruze.

Unfortunately this is what we are left with now that Ford and GM HQ want all their cars around the world to look the same and are dictating and pulling all the strings.
The Fords look fine the Cruze looks like Rubbish !

Yep, and I'm 'Tempted' to run a poll on who would be more 'tempted' to bash their head on a brick wall. I'm 'Tempted' to think only one person on the planet thinks the FGx range looks worse then the new cruze.

Yes, the base models retained the 1.4 turbo option as it is more efficient over the 1.8 slug.
My work car is the 1.4 turbo and while the weather is cool it drives well, but as the temp climbs into the mid 30s, the throttle response slowly disappears, the ac disengages intermittently blowing warm air, and the whole experience disintegrates into a shuddery, jerky mess, then of course, the car performs poorly too

Yeah the current Cruze (first facelift and built here) craps all over this monstrosity.

The Aussie designers managed to make it look somewhat half decent......

Rubbish. Look back through all Falcon and Commodore designs. They were ALWAYS global.

Aside from the obvious Falcons in the beginning, you had the XB that looked exactly like a Mustang, The XD was a bigger Granada, The EA was influenced by the Ford Scorpio. I could go on and on and on. Even moreso with the history of the Commodore.

They have always been global.

We have shown you photos in the past but you still persist with your agenda.

Yes, Aussie cars always had a global influence and used global design elements, but the local designers were allowed to modify them into a unique version to suit local tastes.
They are now being forced to use the exact same styling as overseas versions - the front of the Cruze has been brought into line with the US version, with no unique local styling apart from the badge.

You are either thick as a brick or just being deliberately argumentative, so if that doesn't explain it for you then I give up.
The Cruze is a poor example!!! It was ALWAYS a global car!!!

What about the 1991 Ford Laser? You can find the same car in the US, bar a couple of cosmetic changes. It was the Escort. It was global. This is not a new thing.

They are not being "forced" to do anything. They are an American company doing what they have always done.

Embrace it.

Love it.

Ford Forever.

Maybe they're just taking the opportunity to smooth the global car architecture into the last local model so the sheep don't complain so much we only get to drive American or euro cars?... We all know that's NOT what's happening, but if they hadn't already been doing it for 60 years my bet is that is what they'd do.......

Well, our Cruze is exactly the same as foreign ones so it stands to reason that it would pick up rolling changes from other markets.

I have been given one of these updates to drive while my work cruze is in getting the transmission repaired under warranty. Its a White Equipe with the 1.8l, appraisal car, the fleet manager is trying to get my company to upgrade :(
The interior is identical bar the mylink screen, its got 17s styled to look like 16s, the 1.8 is sluggish when compared to the 1.4 turbo and is noisier, and the front......the styling that has been seen cannot be unseen UGH!
Im hoping they choose another brand of car, as our 3 are only 2.5 years old and are starting to have problems requiring warranty work.

Transmission failures are becoming like a plague. Holden are replacing them on the quiet, and asking owners to sign confidentiality agreements. They are having big problems with this. There is some sort of manufacturing fault that is causing them to fail at very low k's, most under 40,000.

Auto.
The service guy at holden openly told me that his dealer has done plenty of cruze transmissions he prided himself on it being a "high turnover service department"
The fleet manager who used to run a service dept said about 20% of the turbos had water pumps replaced, as they were originally designed for Europe and not our extreme heat.
My colleagues cruze has a coolant leak on the block that our mech said needs attention asap before warranty runs out.
Standing in the service dept was a BRAND NEW 1.8 cruze on the hoist with the ENTIRE engine out.
This crap reminds me of EA Falcon days......

Asking owners to sign confidentiality agreements seems a little far fetched to me. If these failures are happening <40,000km, then the vast majority of these fixes would take place during the warranty period. I can't see a dealer whipping out a confidentiality agreement for a warranty repair. If the repair was performed outside of the warranty period and ACL consumer guarantees (Motor Dealers and Repairers Act 2013) did not apply, then I guess they could, technically. But with most being low kay failures, it seems mighty far fetched for them to be silencing masses of Cruze owners with legal docs. Wild if true, though.

is it the 1.6T manual and newer than 2013?

The diesels, 1.8 and autos have heaps of issues which is why Service Departments call them a Holden Curse. I read heaps about them before I bought mine and it would read that the 2013 1.6T model was vastly improved over the earlier models. However the earlier model stigma is being attached by you guys to the current model!
