Hey guys. Just enquiring, is this cruise for members of the FPV and XR ACT club only? Or is it open to other forum members. I'm only here for a short time and would love to jump onto the cruise if I can.

If I'm allowed....please add me to the list.

Cheers Graham

Thanks Stu, appreciate the speedy reply, I'm looking forward to the cruise.

Was about to add myself to the list, but you beat me too it. Where abouts are we meeting and what time?

No Problem Graham. As a visitor from the West, I am sure you will love this run and I am glad that our club can host you.

Great timing with your meet point question. I was just checking if anyone had posted a meet point.

My suggestion, is to meet at Gold Creek McDonalds as it is on the way out of town. Time wise, we are scheduled to do lunch in Tumut, I guess a 9:30 departure from Gold Creek allows plenty of time to get to Tumut for lunch with a fair amount of fudge factor.

Meet point: Gold Creek Maccas
Meet time: 09:00 for a 09:30 departure.
Bring your UHF radio if you have one. Lets put them on Ch10.

Thoughts guys? Open to feedback.

Stu

Reinman, with this rain, I'd say you better change the spelling.

You are a ponderer bucky.

It's a great drive, whether taken at a sightseeing pace (the scenery is good*), or something a little quicker.

Weather for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is sunny and cool. Looking at 16 degrees.

Hopefully the prediction is right and we have a nice day, out and about.

Gents. We may have left our run a bit late? With this cold snap, there is already snow up in the high country. Does anyone know of a way to find out if the road has snow on it yet?

Did a little search and its not looking too good. Apparently there is snow on the road.

I had a discussion with Dave C last night. We will know more when we get to Tumut for lunch. The locals will know for sure if there is snow on the road. We can make a call from there.

Either way, I am happy just to go for a drive for lunch if the worst happens. I hope it doesn't, but I have heard them there hills are expecting more snow. Dammit.

Little update for those interested. The RTA website has been updated and the alpine warning for Snowy Mountains Hwy (between Tumut and Cooma) has been cleared.

Apparently the Tumut visitors Centre will also know the current conditions of the Hwy

I'm hoping it stays clear and we get to drive the road on Sunday, it looks like a really good road for a cruise (far more interesting than WA)

Thanks for the update Graham. We all are interested here! I am planning for the day to go ahead. If we get to go across the top of the country - awesome. Either way, I get out of town and have some lunch with some incredible like minded collegues with some incredible cars.

As you suggest, the visitor's centre will be able to tell us what we are in for - especially if we contact them on the day.

See you at Gold Creek Maccas. 9:00 for 9:30 departure on Sunday. Looking forward to it Ladies and Gents. The best run on the club's calender in my opion.

Cheers
Stu

Chris V, do you still have your semi slicks still fitted to the GT-P?

So how does this decision get impacted if the roads are wet?

I love your semi-slicks, they are awesome. Cleary they advantage on dry roads, but where do you draw the line? Is there a point where Street tyres will beat semi slicks, especially when it is damp then dry? Curious for your thouthts.

Cheers and thanks

To be honest Chis, I have never taken notice of the scenery! There is a nice dam where do a photo shoot. I recall from years gone past lunch was nice at the Woolpack. Then all of a sudden we are in Cooma. The trip back to Canberra from Cooma, I do recall as being very slow. I felt I could get out beside the car and walk. Probably not a good idea at 100kph.

Bring on Sunday! Cannot wait.

Cheers

As long as I can keep the tyres warm/hot they'll beat street tyres on all but the most water logged of roads.

Ice however is a problem no matter what. it's water the tyres just can't push away.

Guys and Gals. The forecast for Sunday at Cooma. Tumut forecast said much the same thing

We will know more when we get to Tumut tomorrow and I am planning to make the call based on advice from locals.

Looking forward to this! Just one more sleep!
