Bit harsh mate!
FWIW, I won't buy it because PBL media own the company I work for. there is no need, I get it for free if I want it.

Here's an interesting passage that Wheels chose to add to the 50 year article,
it shows the bitter disappointment that Edsell II had for Wheels not giving the
Falcon COTY:

Quote:
Edsel Ford II, Deputy MD of Ford Australia Spoke to Wheels before his return to the US in early 1981:
"It is my single greatest disappointment in my time in Australia that we didn't win the COTY award" he said, "The Falcon you see today is the last car to ever be produced in Australia that was designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia, by Australians for Australians.
I feel that sheer fact alone would have been the criteria for giving Falcon COTY.
I will go to my grave feeling that Ford Australia have been cheated."

Grilling Wheels Magazine for putting Commodores on the front cover would be like hating on Zoo Magazine for putting Holly Valance, Rachel Weisz or Scarlett Johanson on the front cover. Putting the Commodore on the font sells covers, just like putting babes on the front of Zoo sells. If having a Holden on the front stops Zoo from putting my nana on the front of their magazine, then I'm all for it.

While I stopped with Wheels like two years ago, mainly because of stupid bias and articles that are the journalistic equivalent of Today Tonight, give them credit, the write up is fantastic. Well done guys. I bought your magazine this month...

Just picked up a copy, and so far I think its a pretty good write up and great layout (although there are a couple mistakes ). Love how they included the cover of the old mags and the timeline.

Looking forward to reading the rest of their write up (or look at the pics )

Oh and just a quicky, are any of the other Ford dedicated mags doing a tribute to the 50th???

Glad my sense of humor was well received.

Having read the wheels article, it was more like the quality journalism they
used to do back in the 1970s and 1980s, I just wish their current articles
would maintain that old impartiality and let readers decide whether they
like the vehicles or not.

The latest Australian Classic Car has an article on the Falcons 50th, it has a True Blue Phase III and a Viper GT-P on the Cover.

The BA did have a new block. The auxilary shaft from the AU was deleted, the oil pump was moved to the crankshaft so the oil pump drive wasn't needed or the oil pump mounting pad.

Essentially it was a new casting.

I guess they thought "oh well its only Ford"... wait till a Holden milestone.. everything will be checked, double checked, triple checked even put under UV light to make sure there are no marks before going to final print. Hell maybe they will even print it in a leather bound book

Had a flick through today. I was impressed by the ful page ads taken out wishing Falcon a happy birthday, especially the one from Merc. Would have cost them a bit of coin, and they really did not have to do it. kudos to them.
