Same it like saying never understood why Ford left the XW GT bonnet unfinished with one scoop when it really should have 2 to be effective!!!

thats exactly what i mean sure the ba gt is a nice car but i dont think its worthy of a gt badge.the last true gt imo is a xb all the ones after it are gimmicks to make people think they own something special.
the only exception is the current fg 335 gt im happy that they have a gt badge.
id like to see the value of a ba gt or even a ba gt replica in another 30 years

THIS. very much this.

Sure they don't have top level race pedigree, but you CAN take them to a track and have a blast. And isn't that what they're about?

Interesting Opinions on the GT...

Given they made a little more than 12,000 GTs from the 60s and 70s... That is quite a few cars out there...

Sure there has been more BA/BF/FG GTs sold in that time... but it's a different world now than it was back in the 'good ol' days'...

The reasons for replica's of the X series GTs are very different than the reason for replica's of the B/F series GTs... Long term I think that the collectability of the modern day GTs won't be anything like what we see today for the old ones...

Thats my 2 cents...

personally I think your 2c prediction will probably prove to be correct.

but i guess for those who wanna do them they will enjoy it.

I think it's also correct, that given what you can pick up a BA/BF FPV for, it's probably not worth spending the money on a stock XR8 to try & copy it. The FPV's are becoming very well priced here in NZ now.

and I like the shaker on modern cars !!!

I dont think its right to say at BA/F GT isnt worthy. I think it is. And thats just my opinion. It was back then the top of the range Ford and when it came out people loved it! Yes I think the 335 is in a league of its own! But what defines what should and shouldnt be a GT? Was it the top of the range in its Era? Sure as hell was!
In 10 years time will be looking back at the Miami and winge and moan on how crap it is/was? At this rate, possibly!

For those that say XY/W's are the real GTs, I must be a little confused or something....

Do you have to lose a race to a 6 cylinder Torana around a track to qualify as a "Real GT"?

The 5.4 was worthy at the time for sure ...... same as all others before it. It was the performance benchmark at the time for Ford and that is all that is required. That is all the GT represents and it certainly did that. The FG 5.4 did it, so does the FG 5.0 today. Ford decided what would wear the GT badge and no one else can deny the fact that they are a GT. Silly really to think otherwise and cant understand why it wouldn't. If the badge says so .... it is so.

The XR GT was the first and wasn't exactly the fastest thing on wheels. Was a gimmick at the time ..... and so was every single other GT afterwards. They didn't do it for charity ...... it was for sales ONLY.

Really ..... the XY was a tissue box on wheels, no brakes, no suspension but was the best at the time ..... won a few races because it could be raced back then. Because of its racing heritage it is worth a bit ..... but a car isn't measured by how much it is worth. Really ..... who cares how much is something worth in 30 years time. There will ALWAYS be something better!!!

If someone wants to beuld something to represent something else for what ever reason they have ........ not my problem. Good on a P plater who has the time and money to do it and wants to stick some stripes on his XT to make it that little bit more appealing .... to them!
