Dates back to the VT afaik (never seen it happen on an earlier model).

The thing is they may be great journo's but have no idea about cars/motorsport/hoons etc etc..

I couldn't imagine it would disengage the accelerator in a manual, then it would be an issue. If you're having to do a hill start in an auto and require the handbrake, yeesh.
