one short asian man, driving an xb gt sedan, has owned it from new.. and yea he can hardly see over the dash...
the other is a nissan r33 skyline heavily modified driven by a brick sh.. house tongan..
i asked him how he gets in as he is heavily built (muscle's not fat)
and he laughed thank god..

I knew this guy at uni, several years ago overseas. Big solidly built bloke, about 6'2", broad-shouldered, built like a tank. His nickname was Tonton, but we all called him Two-ton (for obvious reasons).
He had a classic Mini, and he'd removed the driver's seat so he could fit in it. He'd drive the thing sitting in the back seat, like Hightower in the first Police Academy movie.

having a hard time believing that one. i'm 6'2 and have had 3 mini's and fitted fine. i wouldn't be able to reach the steering wheel or pedals from the rear seat.

True story. He was probably taller than you , then. I'm 5'10" and he was a full head or so taller than me, and built like a country s-house. Had some flab, but did powerlifting.

This was about 18 years ago, and my memory of the car is sketchy, but I'm fairly certain he sat in the back (unless he re-mounted the driver's seat, which is a more likely scenario). I never rode with him but a mate of mine did.

I'm only 6'1-2" and I barely fit in the front of a falcon (I don't fit in the back) some people are proportioned differently. my brother who is 6'4" fits in the rear of the same falcon with ease.

stories like that come up pretty often when people reminisce about tall people they knew with minis, but I'd guarantee nobody has ever driven a standard mini from the back seat. Minis are fairly roomy inside. the drivers seat in mine had minor adjustment, and with it back as far as it would go, I couldn't touch the pedals - I'm also 6'2". To drive from the back seat, you'd need 2m long legs and arms which would make you a pretty crazy looking individual. I had much more legroom and headroom in the mini than I had in my EF fairmont at the time.

Much more likely as you suggest he had just fitted adjustable seat brackets that are available to move the mini seats back about a further 100mm or thereabouts. I'll admit that "driving from the back seat" makes a much better story though

Dunno if Rob (prydey) remembers - would've been about 15 years ago - but there was a time in his last mini that we had 5 people in there and at least 3 of us were over 6 foot and the other 2 weren't much shorter - apparently we looked funny getting out...

EDIT - just noticed - 302 posts for me... that's a good number I'll have to leave it at that for a while...

My old man dresses most days like he should drive a BMW
but drives a dinged up Avalon.
One of the owners of the place I work for has a black Mercedes 4wd, but he wears fluros and works a days work and looks out of place in it( I'd hazard a guess he's worth over 10million, his property portfolio is massive, etc)
that and he's quite old too.

My 17 year old brother has a Phantom Purple BA XR6 ute, with 19" Avanti rims. When he's driven to work, mum has driven it home (as he's an L-plater). A 50 year old woman doesn't really go with that sort of vehicle! She's got some weird looks!

When my dad drove my Nanna's MkII Escort had to be a close 2nd. A big solid bloke with a beard driving a light blue Escort was a funny sight

Came across a Chinese student at uni getting into a VE SS. He had stickered 'Made In China' in big black block letters across both lower doors of car.

A guy i worked with a guy that rolled into a holden dealer covered in crap and it took 20 mins before anyone came near him. He was looking at a statesman on the floor and a salesman came over and gave him look over and left him.
The guys worth millions and he heads down the road and buys two of them at the next showroom. So the moral of the story is dont judge a book by its cover.
PS i look like axe murderer but im not yet or at least thats what the voices tell me

Oh pottery im sure you look pretty as a flower! haha

Oh heres a different one. For weeks ive been seeing this green P plater bloke get around in a fully resored Kingswood panalvan (dont know what model it is) and it looks reaalllllll tough!
Pulled up at Pimp My Ride one day at the same time as him and got out and started having a chat. Turns out the bloke who owns the Toughest holden in town was Homosexual!
Mind you he was top fella and im good mates with him now but it was just a shock to suddenly hear his voice talking to me about the crazy amount of time he's put into the car.
