If you want it as lumpy as possible your probably better off with getting the next cam up, which goes from 2700 rpm to 6800 rpm, that's what the guy from crow cams has told me, that one is way more aggressive. and with your engine, which i think you have 1.7 rockers already, i don't think you'd have to exchange them.

Now relax Austin, no point going too big with all your standard gear on it, you know which one to get, it will work fine and have plenty of lumpiness and torque.

Ok, a bit dissapointed. had the edit done today and came back with a reading of 167.6 RWKW. The tuner said that he was a bit dissapointed as well, he thought i'd be getting at least 180. he couldn't give it enough timing as he said and thought there was a restriction in the system somewhere. He reckons that I need to do my High Flow cats and give it a 3" cat back system. What sort of gains do you think I would get once i put High flow Cats in?

dont get hung up about the number, when mine was done i was so ****ed off with the result (160rwkw) - I was thinking "wtf is wrong with my engine that is can only produce 160rwkw!!!!" - but the drivability and torque - farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr out you wouldnt know it was the same car. Ive been told by a number of people that the AU windsors can be a real bugger to get good numbers out of, but performance is easy.

Actually ... this is what i read recently.

HP wins dyno days ... torque wins races.

I like it. There are some low-power reading vehicles that are quite quick out there.

Dyno numbers mean stuff all, 1/4 mile numbers are what matters. Seriously mine only puts out 204rwkw (before edit with unichip) and it pulls away from most things on the road (to the speed limit). While your kw number may be a tad low what is your torque like as that matters more.

3900 N of torque if i read this thing correctly. Is that a lot or not much? how does that equate to ft/pd ?

3900 nm of torque is almost 4 SL65 AMG's or almost 10 series 1 xr8's lol. I'm assuming a typo mate. Standard series 1 xr8's had 412nm's at 3500rpm

However thats a flywheel figure, not sure how that equates to how much you put out at the rear wheels

nup not a typo, some dyno graphs have a N reading instead of NM - mine does. What the difference is Im not exactly sure though lol.

A newton is the amount of force required to accelerate a body with a mass of one kilogram at a rate of one meter per second squared
NM is the amount of force applied over a distance arm of 1 metre.

So therefore it covers the ability of the engine to accelerate your car. A flat line on the graph will indicate constant acceleration, an upward sloping line will mean increasing acceleration and a downward sloping line will mean decreasing acceleration. That is you car is still accelerating but at a decresing rate. e.g. your accelerating at 2m/s now but in 1 seconds time you may be accelerating at 1.5m/s.

I'm pretty sure this is right. As to how much 3900 is, no idea. but the formula is

1N = 1*((kg*m)/s)

So all you need to know is the weight of your car and you can calculate how long it will take you to do the quarter approximatly. I think, maybe.

There was a good thread showing the exact formula.

Newtons measured is also affected by how the vehicle is strapped down on the dyno as well ... and a number of other factors too.

OK ... I was bored ... look here:

So to me thats saying that the faster you go in kph the slower the rate of acceleration. Then you can see where you hit the limiter and acceleration stops. Maybe a good tuner could play around and figure out why you have that dip just after 120kph.

Torque drops away pretty quick after 140 kph though doesn't it. I suppose that would suit for the 1/4 mile though because your not going to be doing more than 87.5 mph for very long.

Thats just my opinion however and I don't claim to be an expert

not too sure, i had the standard maf in before and changed it right before I had the edit done. I should have left in in and done a before and after. it does feel to have a steady take-off and acceleration, but don't think that the changing of the maf did anything. the intake grunt is awsome though. after the cam install i can't notice any difference in the custom tune to the generic though

I see what you are saying, but remember that i am running with stock cats and the tuner said that he reckons that is limiting how much he can tune it, that it is causing a restriction, and once i change to high performance cats that he'd be able to adjust the tune to get more power out of it.

Hmm very interesting stuff, can't wait to see how it goes for you. Are you coming to the drag nats, love to see what quarter time you get.

When and where are they? I wouldn't mind coming, this would be a first for me (going to the Drag races). I'd like to get the cats done first, but am afraid might have to wait a while for more savings.

Just bought a replacement MOMO leather steering wheel from ebay. $186.00 what a steel. As mine is worn out i have been waiting for a red one to come available and to get it at that price is awsome.
