Ah yes, but the commonwhore is the most recalled Australian made car ever!
Also Toyota only recall if they are 100% sure the fix will work unlike Holden who did 3 recalls on their power steering leaks on the VY!

recall's since 98

toyota: 63
holden: 60
ford: 59
honda: 36 (man the odyssey was the main contributer)
Mazda: 36
hyundai: 20
subaru: 15
volkswagon: 1

So Toyota has had the most recalls in 10 years, does this mean they are more proactive or they make an inferior product. I guess there are different ways of viewing this data.

btw burns double check your results as Ford (since 1986) only had 110 recals as 5 of them were items that weren't motor cars).

since 98

Falcon 12 (includes utes wagons and fpv/tickford)
Commodore 29 (includes utes wagons and hsv)

Don't just type in commodore as it wont bring up all the commodore models.

How does a VZ recall turn into a recall urinal wetting contest.

If there is nothing to add to the topic it may as well be closed.

Some manufacturers choose to do a recall, mainly in AUS it's done as mostly a "voluntary" basis.

However, my experience, is that I see recalls (in a somewhat similar industry), that can be 20 years after the model was made.
Simply from a court case that a person made against a manufacturer and that person won.
Some wait for it to happen and some think it's better to fix the problem before the egg hits the face.

I'm a person that will fix it earlier, regardless of cost.

When you weigh it up, a death (from not fixing it) = a court case that you will loose on.
So it's the cost of a loosing court case, plus a recall plan, plus egg on your face.

The cost effectivness of recalls is better to do them up front and "suck it up princess" attitude, as against court case (possibly fromn a death), more $$$ and a recall and more egg on your face.

Ford have recalled the BA Falcon for a side airbag fault similar to Holden's current recall

Heck some Ford dealers are so confident about the reliability and workmanship, they ban the customer from returning! Now that is confidence.

Ford customer service are real happy about the cars too. Mainly because they deny all responsibility for them, the dealer, the company and probably for the church. To this day I suspect Ford Customer Service are working for Sunbeam and the phone numbers got mixed up or something. They sure don't like talking about problems with Fords.

Lets just say Fords never made a car not within manufacturers tolerance. Sure they were outside the tolerance of the customer, but not the manufacturer.

Well the topic seems to have developed a clunk noise and a slight shudder on braking, but just the same I am with you.

Just typing in Falcon or Commodore does not find all the related recalls. Some are listed just as Ford or Holden and even just by year and model.

Aren't a lot of airbags made by the same manufacturer, e.g. Bosch (not saying they make the recalled ones)?

If they recall older models, shouldn't they recall every VN in the country and not give them back.

He knows this, he's being intentionally ignorant hoping others won't pick up on the mistake.

In the first month of BA production, a build up of static electricity could potentially cause the side airbags to deploy. All were recalled, but no car had an airbag go off, it was done just in case it did. Different to Holdens problem.

2 Commodores have had the airbags deploy, once with a person sitting in the car, the second one without a person in it. Much more serious. Its not done just in case, its actually happened.
