Default T Bar Handles

I need some help here please, I just bought a black leather / chrome button ghia T bar handle for my AU1 Fairmont (off ebay), and it arrived today and I was all excited and then I put it on and realised it is too short at the bottom. Compared to my old handle it's about an inch shorter. You can see in the attached photo that the coloured ones are shorter, which is what my new ones like, and my old one is like the black ones length. Were there different length transmission stalks between series or XRs or something or what? I noticed the black momos have a chrome bit at the bottom too. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or am I gonna have to sell on my new toy? Dammit!

They are not different lengths, they are standard. In your photo above you can see the extra bit of chrome, you need to pull your one of your existing T Bar. Once you change that, it would be all good.

Yeah, that makes sense, unfortunately since my old one is the vinyl original one it doesn't have the chrome bit, just a longer plastic sleeve coming out of the bottom bit. Hopefully Ford sell these separately or I can get one somewhere, any ideas?

In the meantime, just cut the bottom off the standard one to make up the length

Ford don't sell this part seperately. They sell them with the Gearknob. So you need to buy a new Gearknob, still in it's original box.

Although, it might pay to check, they may have added it, as a seperate part now.

I don't think it is a separate part, just like the chrome button.

I've got a couple of spare shifters floating around, so I'll see if i can make something up to suit.
