If its 6 cylinder your asking about, PM rob_liss_lms10, as he has done this to his XR6. I am also getting one, after I do my suspension. Dont let anyone talk you out of it if its what you want to do. Good luck.

I......cant.... help... it........ its my weakness, the "bucky rice gene" in me. I have to admit, I like the shakers on the AU.

Moody1 it's your car mate yes it can be done and if it is what you want do it.

Personally you wouldn't get a shaker set-up within 10 feet of my car's Engine bay!

They look good, but are they practical or just for bling?

Also, it would be just plain wrong somehow for one to be put on a six! e

Forget the shaker, just stick part of the engine through the bonnet. Nothing else says I have a cool car, then not being able to fit your engine into the bay!

How would you rig it up? It has to go from the scoop, all they way to the box, then back up the intake pipe into the throttle body. You would compeltly lose the effect of the "Ram Air Intake"...

Unless you do what I'm gonna do to my HZ ...

Bug Catcher sits ontop of K&N panel filter which sits on top of the carbi - then you would get the "Ram Air Intake" effect, but still be massivley reduced from the filter.

I think Rob has it installed pod filter directly into the shaker and only has about 10ml of throttle body pipe. Im guessing it goes dirrectly into the throttle body. I think it would deffinately make a difference, as the air would be getting forced into the throttle body. Ive heard people say that the induction noise is awesome as well.

That's on a V8 (where they belong). The six is a different setup, but could be made to feed into the airbox as well.

The induction noise sounds like a monster supercharger and sucks so hard that you should hold small childrens hands orther wise they might get sucked in!

It may give you 5rwkw. For nearly $2k, it is an expensive "power" mod. You will get far better results from an edit. But from a looks angle, you can't beat a shaker - though on a 6, it would be referred to as a "trembler", cos they don't really shake at idle like a V8. LOL.

Or you vould do what Rob_lms_10 did, and fit an original XY style shaker to the 6 for around $250 for the shaker plus whatever it costs you to cut the bonnet and make some brackets to hold the shaker in place. This style wouldn't be plumbed in, though it could with a few mods - in fact, I would have it feeding straight to the TB, and just relocating the bits that fit on the intake pipe, to fir into the shaker base instead, and run the filter under the shaker - which is how they are setup on XYs etc.

imo the good old shakers suit any ford , go for it ;) .

I fitted 1 to my old XE years ago , easy as - did it after a new baked on enamel paint job too , so long as you use a very fine tooth jigsaw blade on high speed you can cut the hole out of your bonnet no worries without damaging the paint work , also put some cloth under the guides rails of the jigsaw to stop any scratches , the engines allways seem to be exactelly centered to the bonnet from shakers i have put in mine and mates cars , just measure the exact cente of the bonnet and the size of the shaker gromet outline size and all is fine , i've also been thinking off adding a shaker to my XR , has made a mild difference performance wise on other cars i have put them on , the induction sound is awesome too ..
