Angry Ignition leads.

I am in a pickle and feel confusticated. I've always noticed that one of my ignition leads seemed to connect closer to the spark plug than the other 5...

Was going over my engine bay yesterday giving a small de-grease when i happened to pull the first two leads up out of their little plastic holders (ontop of rocker cover) and then proceeded to do the same to number 3. I honestly put NO ounce of strength into it, and managed to pull the lead out of the rubber plug at the end wich attaches to the spark plug!!!!

On closer inspection i found this end rubber piece to be half the length of the other ones as it has been cut down!!!!!!!!!! the lead just pulled out

the leads have a small boot on the coil end, I think 4 of the leads have 90 degree boots and 2 have half sized boots, it is possible although unlikely the installer fitted that plug lead back to front.. ie: the long boot is on the coil

Yep, 100% right.

Just bought a replacement set for the ute, leads 1 and 2 look exactly the same, but one end "plug" is shorter than the other end, leads 3-6 have a normal end and a 90° bend for the coil pack.

nah lead 3 the normal end that goes onto the spark plug has definitly been cut. looks like a stanley knife or something, its not even straight.

Just either replace the lead, or buy a whole new set of leads. Don't see why you would need a hoist, your just replacing spark leads, not the engine, although that too can solve your problem....so long as you still replace the leads - lol.

What I meant is that it can be done.... then again, you could change a wheel without a jack too....

Get whatever colour pleases you, red blue or whatever they have (Black at some places).

If your car isn't modded, it probably isn't worth getting a huge priced set of leads....yet.

When you do replace them, don't rip them all off then go to put the new ones on. Remove and replace them one by one. Trust me, you'll know why if you just rip them all off first....

IMO, just go to supercheap and get a single lead, then upgrade the whole lot to a performace set down the line when you really need too....
