4th owner the car yard again, the car still zircon green
5th the current owner - car still zircon green, then restored back to Calypso.

Given the above you where in the car with either the tradie or the current owner BUT both times the car was zircon Green with silver bonnet when they picked up the car from the dealer, not Calypso Green.

You say you were in a calypso XA GTHO.....not posible

Back in 1974 I'm sure plenty of cars were called GTHOs instead of GTs, even blue XY utes were referred to as GTHOs.

My guess your mate may have bought a calypso green XA, maybe even a GT, and you were young and impressionable kid owning a Kombi, the XA probably felt like a rocket ship, shooting flames from the exhaust.

An impressionable mind, 40 years ago and fading memories......nothing more than that. My guess is you were in a completely different car.
So the 5th Owner would be KG162 Who bought it from the Parra Dealer. Would that be about right in 85? Thanks for the help...

KG plate was the Tradie, Kirk Gra.....something, he sold back to the car yard Lahood Motors wearing that plate. The current owner bought it from Lahood with those plates still attached.

Current owner has now got the original BJG plates back on the car.

Kirk would have bought it in 1978, sold it in the mid 80s

I see it also wore "RL" plates at some stage, this would have been Robert Lahood (who owned it twice). I assume that plate was on the car before the "KG" Plates. so it went
  • Hemphill - Orginal BJG plates 1973 - 1978
  • Lahoood Motors - RL plates for "Robert Lahood" 1978
  • Kirk Gr... KG plates, 1978 - mid 80s
  • Lahood motors again, kept KG plates on it
  • Current owner...bought it with KG plates and eventrually refitted BJG plates, mid 80s to now

We couldn't find my friend in the HO UTE. So I told Alex's brother about a quarter mile stretch of rd Harley Crs Condell Park. I t was about 5 pm.He lined it up and away we went Looking out the back you could see the pipes light up. As he changed Gears the body would go forward then slam you back into the seat. We hit the kerb right hand front wheel, then air bourne for about what felt like 50 ft. We where lucky the factories had not been built at the time. We stopped up right. Apart from Sh-tting our self's. And Sharon Fingernails cut into mine and Trevor's wrists we where all OK . Only damage to the XA GT was the drivers stub axle. We where able to get it back to Georges hall. Just as My other friend Drove by in his GTHO UTE. This is all fair dinkum I think he still owns it. As I remember him living near Botany Bay and I think he was a dentist. Your B W HALL
Hi Brent,

I can tell you that the XA you were in, DEFINITELY WASN'T the XA GTHO Phase IV.

As you have now purchased the magazines, you would have seen the complete history of the Phase IV and the actual people who have owned and when they have owned it.

There never has been anyone by the name of Alex Spiteri that has owned the XAGTHO Phase IV.

It would have been a similar XA GT that you were in that day and that is all but thanks for sharing your story though

Cheers

Roy

I would say no one would have bothered back then, no one had camera phones, no one carried cameras around, how many people would go around with a camera taking photos of cars sitting in car yards….my guess would be very few.

Could be a marketing ploy...to show a potential buyer that the sunroof doesn't leak. Imagine someone test-driving this in the wet that was interested in trading-in their XY 250 with factory Auto for it? lol.
