I didn't actually see anything about this on the news or newspaper etc, but did they actually say it was a BF XR6? Also to someone who does not no much about cars, a Typhoon could look a lot like an XR6 which is capable of 250km/h

Does anyone, know what the actual top speed of a FPV GT or Typhoon is (with the limiter taken off)?

xr6_190, I will swing by your joint soon and we can try it out up the hume :

Why would anyone want to do those speeds in these cars is beyond me, i haven't taken any of my cars over 160, I just don't feel safe at that speed without a cage and helmet.

The fastest I've ever gotten mine is 155 Km/h(just while overtaking on a country road, she still had plenty left), I probably wouldn't go past that for a whole raft of reasons, mainly because it IS a road car, and I wouldn't enjoy not having my licence, but I am curious to know what they would be capable of on an autobahn or something.

yeah these rides, even in NA form, are pretty darn good. You can be at 150 before you even know it just overtaking on an outer suburban expressway and lots more pedal before the metal's touched. I've had 160 on the way back from Dubbo overtaking a cattle truck and a line of traffic in front of that but gets abit freaky above that, probably the psych thing of being above 100 mph (the ton !!!!).

There is a big difference between an 18 year old EA, and a 2 year old BF, Ford have designed the Falcon (and even Holden with the Commodore) to be able to comfortably cruise at 160 Km/h, mainly so they can overtake easily and tow a boat or caravan at 110 Km/h with ease.

I'm not suggesting that everyone should go out and wind it up on the nearest freeway just to see what they are capable of, that would be plain stupid!

Yeah that prob sounds right. All i know the car was in fifth at 210 and still had room left to go quicker.

But even at the limit the car still felt like it was stuck to the road. Its braking that the problem at those speeds with stock brakes.

The car I saw on the news looked to be an black N/A XR6, it possibly could have been a turbo, but I'm not too sure. The 250Km/h estimate could easily be a mis-read by the hitch-hiker.

My owners manual indicates that my futura is speed limited to 200km/h.
On my parents XR6 owners manual it says 200km/h.
I am sure it is 200km/h in these ba's, au's were 180 wern't they?

The base model falcons were 180 (the rating of the tailshaft), I thought the base meodel AU's were lower then 180.

Well my futura does do 200km/h and does it easily, (not on a public road i might add.)
I thought that n/a xr6's had the same tailshaft as the base models and only diff's were different?

No meant to have a better tailshaft. If I counted correctly there are 10 different tailshafts spread amongst all the models (ute's sedans, wagons and terri's).

The 180 figure (not below it) was the case with the AU's, not the newer versions if I'm correct.
