Veil of Anguish is my brothers best mate's band, I go to most of their gigs
so I'll more than likely be there too.

You could always organise a weekend away to Sydney. Their show here at Luna Park is all ages. :

Cannibal Corpse? Quality? No one has heard of? Those three shouldn't be used in the same sentence really. You won't find a more commercial death metal band than CC. However, I do admit to liking Hammer Smashed Face and their version of Roots Bloody Roots.

This is all death/black metal, and some of it is somewhat commercial but oh well:

Vomitory
Skinless
Hate Plow
Dying Fetus
Cryptopsy

and... an awesome Aussie band:

Astriaal - I think they've gotten pretty well known since I've first heard them at Bloodlust a few years back.

Parkway Drive are playing Mooza B (mooroolbark) next week or the week after. Super, even though they kinda suck IMO, will be something to see all the emo and hardcore wannabe kids moshing it up.

Anyone really into the local eastern Melb suburbs scene?

Great list peoples.

I like anything with great guitar riff and vocals you can understand, but don't know any Alternative bands the fit the criteria?

Gyroscope - supported Blink182 when they were here, an awesome band. Loved their support act, and love their albums.

The mad caddies.

Id recommend anyone with broadband take a minute out of their day to have a listen.

Any band on Fat Wreck Chords.

Also Cherry Poppin' Daddies and the Royal Crown Revuew. Very cool
