Pollen Filter location for LV Focus?

Hello,

I tried to find this in the booklet but couldn't.

The pollen filter. Where is it exactly as I would like to check it out.

on the LT model it is behind the centre of the dash board on top of the transmission tunnel. You need to lower the fuse box and remove glove box lid to get to it and it is held in by a few screws. Tight fit getting the filter in and out.

I still remember how useless the book was to access the fuses, at least that bit is now sorted. Will look into it as you described and see how I go.

I'm still having trouble locating it actually.

I have a picture that I'm waiting to download. I just realised that I didn't remove the glovebox lid. I did drop the fuse tray and remove a piece of plastic trim.

If anyone can chime in if I'm even close please do so.

Ok, I have done a little more digging and think I have found it. Well, actually I found where one should go?? I think???

Pics on their way. My Service Manual says that there is a cabin filter and that it should be changed. Can someone else confirm that LV does in fact have a cabin filter???

I have removed an access panel from behind the airbox. Meaures around 4cm wide and 18cm long. It has a foam gasket, but the box it covers is empty. if I stick my fingers in the box I can touch what feels like a heater core, miniature radiator thinggo.

Ok... Found my old Focus Brochure PDF I downloaded when buying the car.

Pollen filter only standard on XR5 everything before had a '-' there, meaning it didn't come with one and wasn't an option, even though it seems the place it goes in is there.

Cost cutting??? Why XR5 only?? Don't poorer people also deserve clean air lol??

Now I have to put the bloody thing back together..

Only XR5s had them, if you go to Ford spare parts, get them to look for a pollen filter for the LX, and there is none.

Can you actually put an XR5 one in there? I have one laying here but cbf pulling the car apart at the moment.

Ryco make a cabin filter and even on my LT the space was empty I just put the filter in to it and closed her up again.

Did my pollen filter last night. What a bugger of a thing to get to. There wasn't enough slack in my fuse box cables so I had to deform the filter quite a bit to get it in... luckily they spring right back into shape.

In left-hand drive Focuses, the filter is in the same place, but the driver is on the other side... ergo you access the filter from the driver's side footwell. No removing fuse box brackets or glove boxes, just open the cover and go. Much less complicated. I guess we can thank the German engineering for that.

According to the service logbook, only XR5 comes with the pollen filter. I reckon Ford Australia figures:

It needs to be done every service (12 months or 15000 km) or there's a risk of old filters becoming smelly
It's time consuming to change for RHD vehicles
Let's say $30 for parts and $70 for labour
Who wants to pay $100 more for each service?
XR5 owners get charged through the nose already, maybe we'll factor it in for them
Australia isn't a very polluted country by global standards, maybe we can just go without for everyone else...

I think even the old LT models came equipped with the slot for the filter but no filter in place so you can add them later. you are right the fuse box makes it hard and there is about a 30% chance you will upset one of the cable plugs and get an error message after you put the fuse box back.
