Default Bonnet Protector

Does anyone have a bonnet protector on their Focus?

I bought one today from Ford but a bit worried about installing it ...lots of metal clips and vinyl tape that I'm concerned will damage the paint.

Does anyone think it actually works for deflecting stones etc?

Dad had one on his Subaru. I don't think it helped with chips but did make it hard to clean.

I thought about a bonnet protector but decided against it and fitted a chrome strip instead,... looks great

I have one on my 2010 LV MKII, alas it's an EGR branded smoke-coloured one, not a Ford accessory. Mine has quite a few stone chips in it, so I would presume the answer is yes, it does its job.

If it's installed properly shouldn't do any damage at all...the little plastic strips ensure that...
