Hi hopefully someone can help me out with choosing a diff or diff ratios, itsfor my 1980 mk2 escort ghia, it's a 1.6 and I plan to get twin 40 weber DCOE's, kent 234 cam and a lightened fly wheel.

The standard ration in a MK2 1600 is 3.77....if you plan to do a few mods you might try a 3.99 or 4.11

Hi, had a couple of these until recently. Yes it depends on what your going to do with it.
I still have a 5.1 which is used for hillclimbs etc. No good for any Highway stuff. As others have said 3.9 would be okay. Or 4.11 4.44 if you are going to get a 5spd gearbox with overdrive. Best of both worlds !!!!! |
