I have read online that if you tie the handbrake wire to ground, that the head unit will think the handbrake is always on ;)

Wiring to the ground will also work, depending if your car is -ve ground or +ve grounded. Fortunately for me, I dont have that feature on my unit, i've just got a warning message on screen which can be disabled in the settings.

All cars with dvd players have that feature in australia. It is a legal requirement, I did read up about it.

How do you find the unit? which did you get and where from.

Me? I ended up buying this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/280881483...84.m1497.l2649. In the end the ebayer sent me through the loom with the correct connectors all wired up as i had the same issue with you regarding the connectors. No steering wheel button functionality, but it's in close enough range that it isn't really an issue.

Everything works great. The only thing that irritates me is the clock. It synchronises the clock to the GPS time and i am unable to select Adelaide as my timezone in the GPS settings. Only +9:00 or +10:00. As a result, my clock will always be half hour too fast or too slow unless i never use the GPS.

Dont they all look the same?

I have two clocks, the main unit clock which I can adjust manually. And the other which is the GPS clock in the navigation component. These two are completely separate components.

They definitely all look the same, and i think the interfaces are all the same. Just what's under the bonnet performance and firmware wise that's different.

i can set the clock separately from the GPS unit. But whenever the GPS unit comes on, the clock time is changed. Maybe there's a setting somewhere to disable this feature. Will have to have a poke around

A little late, but here are my wirings colours.

Aftermarket TO Ford Focus
Red TO Yellow/Green(acc)
Blue/White TO Blue(Remote)
Yellow TO Orange/Black(+12v)
Purple/Black TO Grey
Purple TO White
White TO Black/White
White/Black TO Grey/Black
Green/Black TO Grey/White
Green TO Purple/White
Grey TO Red/White
Grey/Black TO Red/Grey

The rest is straight forward, if you have a back up camera etc. Tap the power for the camera to your reverse lights for 12v, and ground wire to the chassis. Video goes straight into the china hu as the wire labelled camera. And another set of the reverse light 12v to the china hu to the wire labelled backup. This will then switch the reverse camera to display when you put it into reverse gear.
