Hi Im new to this forum, ihave an au 111 the tyres are teariing the inner lips of the front guards nobody seems to know how to fix. can someone offer a solution I have been told it is adesign fault

What size tyres are you running ... are they after market wheels you have on the car ... is you suspension lowered (or needs replacing .. ie: too soft/bouncy).
Are the inner guards mounted in place correctly ... if one or more for the mounts are missing ... it will move (and come in contact with the tyre while moving). I have the factory inner guards in my AUII (I am presuming the AUIII use the same) ... and I have no issues with rubbing them.

MY AU wagon used to do this on the front left, until I took to the inner lip with a hammer - that fixed it right up. Oh, I am running Superlow springs, and 18x8" rims with 235/40/18 rubber.

Obveously your car is lowered. The same thing happened to me until i took it to a tyre shop and got the guards rolled. Problem solved...

Same happened to me, when my front shocks were too soft.. Hardend them & up better now but need to get the guards rolled/..

It is not a design fault, more of a common problem when you have a lowered AU.
They fixed this in the BA and lipped the front guards. Best thing you can do mate is jack the car up and take the wheel off, get a soft rubber mallet and carefully fold the lip enough that it's facing an angle away from the tyre. I did this with my AU which is quite low and even driving moderate speeds over speed humps it does not contact the guard at all, I'm running 235/45 tyres.

Its not a real car problem more a gradient of the road issue.. All 20 of my AU's have pulled the front LH guard, because of the 'off the road' uphill slope of the driveway into the yard :(
