If you're talking about a Lancer (non-Evo).
These are the output figures.

ENGINE
2.4 litre, SOHC 16–valve MIVEC MPI engine
Bore x stroke 87.0 x 100.0mm
Capacity 2378 cm3
Compression ratio 9.5:1
Fuel system ECI multi-point injection
Power 115kW @ 5750rpm
Torque 220Nm @ 3500rpm

So yes, a NA 4-pot is used which does a good job at producing 115kw.
It probably wouldn't put a great deal to shame...

Well, the 380 it is then!

ENGINE
3.8 litre V6, SOHC 24-valve with roller rockers and auto lash adjusters
Bore x stroke 95mm x 90mm
Capacity 3828cm3
Compression ratio 10.0:1
Fuel system Electronically controlled multi-point injection
Power 175kW @ 5250rpm
Torque 343Nm @ 4000rpm

175kw it does have. And it only weighs 1625kg in basic form.
That's 107kw/t, which is really isn't all that slow.

i woulda thought the 380 would have had more torque than that. oh well, i guess you dont want too much torque steer

i cant understand why for the life of me with mitsubishi technology they have not put the 2ltr engine from the fto in the lancer. It makes 150kw and a nice bit of tourque.

I bet if they put that engine in the sales would go up. It would appeal to the people who want performance without paying the insurance of as turbo.

I think the main reason would be cost, the lancer (asides from the EVO) is a cheap car, designed to a budget, and how much does the FTO engine cost. Pity, the FTO engine is sweeet.

The reason they do that is to stop the wet lefties saying that the car ad promotes speeding. I will expect that they will get complaints from this minority group about that ad, as they will whinge it promotes street racing.
Mitsubishi had to pull the AWD magna Ad because it showed 3 cars racing on dirt roads.

Yeah, the FTO engine is a V6, chucking that in the lancer might change the perception of the little economical sporty car that people buy it for. The lancers sell alright, couldn't see a change like that improving sales, especially with petrol prices today! Would make for a pretty cool car though...

Your mate isn't far off the mark- in the UK we have 195KW/355 newtons at 6500 RPM in our Lancers from the factory and if I'm not mistaken, this is one of the fastest production 4 door in the world.( happy to be proven wrong!)
See link
http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evo...s.asp?strCar1=

I think that there is a special edition version that is considerably faster again but I will dig out the article before saying anything!!

I was also thinking that, but then again, doing 60 in a 40 zone is speeding aswell. I dont think that those who complain will ever rest, they are against cars fullstop. And thats the problem here. In my opinion political correctness has overtaken common sense. Just my two cents

Mate thats true.
We get the FQ320, 340 and 400 in the UK.
In aus, you get the 2lt (non turb) and the EVO.

And do you have an XC in Scotland?
I'm in Edinburgh, and haven't seen one tootling about... yet.

lol `only' 1.62 metric tonnes? FordFacts says my EA wagon is 1600, and some people recken that's an anchor :P

ar3nbe: That was the first thing I noticed about the ad too! I thought, `man, those are some crappy seats, imagine if you opened it up'
