Default Car hasnt moved for 14 months

Hi all, the trusty fairlane has been off the road for 14 months. will be starting it soon. i have done all the engine stuff to make sure she starts ok. now im thinking about other things i should check or maybe replace? i.e wheel bearings, steering, brakes.

anyone who has had a car off the road for a long period any advice on what to do to make sure its ok please give me your thoughts

I'd be changing all the fluids if it was me, diff and gearbox, brake fluid and coolant. I'd think the wheel bearings would still be ok unless there was an issue with one before you parked it up. Just drive gently for the first few kms and maybe ride the brake a bit to get rid of any surface rust that may have developed on the disc rotors before you stand on the brakes and expect it to stop in a hurry.

Started my old HQ 253 4spd up after 12 months, back in the day, and did nothing but change the oil and it drove fine.

I reckon a warm up burnout is in order! It's worked for me before!

Many Years ago when in the Navy, the cars that I had, and other blokes as well used to sit for months on end sometimes 6 months at a time when we got back to AUS we would head on down to collect our cars and just start them and drive away.

But that was in the 70 and 80's. most times we were going interstate
