Default auto service

hey guys, took the car to an auto specialist today to have a look at it, long story short apparently its overheating (88 degrees on box surface) and getting a full service on monday, is $155 too expensive for a service & scan? there was another $120 in there for new oil or something along those lines.

am i being ripped?

thanks

About right, if the $155 includes everything you've mentioned.

If the service and scan is $155 plus $120 for oil, then you are being ripped off.

My standard service is $140-155 with everything included (labour, trans fluid, disposal of oil fee, pan gasket, filter and oil).

I have paid about $210 for a full service (all of the above) and for the other lines to be fully flushed. This requires extra time and trans fluid.

If you're paying over $150 for anything other than a standard service, get another quote from somewhere else.

All the best with it.

Thanks GK, I'm pretty sure the $120 extra would be for the full flush, apparently ~10L of oil is needed, probably just bullshitting me since I'm only 18

will look around, cheers

Its $30 - $35 of fluid and $15 - $17 for the filter and gasket. If you can do it yourself. Worst case you need a suction gun if your trans is one of the non - dipstick type, but even that is a $30 one off.

Its easy to do and only takes 30 minutes or so.

I second what GK says about being ripped off.......

I had my auto fully flushed and serviced for $200.....that included approx 10L of new oil as well.....

if you had to pay anything more than about $220 for it, then you're paying too much....

I've heard Burleigh Automatics mentioned around the traps, but I can't remember in what vein, sorry. However, give Chris at Currumbin Transmission Centre a call, he's got a good name for workmanship and he's a ford man as well. Just ask him to quote for a service and flush over the phone.

His number is 55341688 and you'll find him at 3/6 Traders Way, Currumbin.

Good luck..

$175 flush for the win, I don't think you'll get much better than that....
