Default Smooth Rear Wiper

Have not seen this posted here. But else where on the net. So i thought i would post some pics of my first mod to my WQ LX Fiesta .... First of many mods but the simpelest.

Rear wiper is from a 2007 5 door Astra... Part available at any Holden dealer.

the part numbers are.
GM-93178858
GM-93189239

Cost me about $60 for the two items. Not cheap as it could have been but i couldnt be bothered hunting down a cheaper price as the dealer was quite close to home.

For all you na-sayers (im not fitting a holden part to a Ford :togo: ) then be comforted that the part is actually a bosch made product so think of it that way and its all good.

Anyhow onto the pics to show the Difference.

I took these pics in my Carport so the relections of my walls are a bit of a pain but you get the idea.

Comparison of the two Wipers sitting on the roof

Comparision with the new Wiper fitted with the old held up against it

Final Shot finished.

Hope the pics come out ....
Overall i think it improves the look of the rear of the car. And i am sure youll get an Extra 15KMH top speed out of it due to the reduced Air drag! NOT!

Next on the adgenda:
Fogs
Side repeaters
Alloys
XDC body kit.
Springs
Cold air induction.
Foot well lighting.

Looks good, it's the little things that count. I've always wanted to do this but cbf. One day...

What are the two part numbers for? One for the wiper arm and one for the blade?

Yeah the two part numbers make up the complete Wiper.
Part one is the Arm and part Two is the wiper blade section.
I should have disconected them to show you the two seperate parts. May do later tonight to show.

Nice work - this is a mod I might do myself. I like the smooth finish - always bugs me that the wiper arm is so small. I wonder if there is a mod for the fronts. I hate that when you lift up the front wipers you can see a patch of bare metal.

you can get the front wiper arms from europeanparts.com. i got mine from supercheap-auto the other day, about $22 each. just got the the ones that say they fit older focus and voila! the ones off euro parts are about $53 for a set plus postage (prob $20).

hope that helps

to really have a smooth finish im going to remove the rear wiper altogether. I honestly think the car will look better with nothing there at all.

cant speak for Rimwar but,
the rear wiper sent from Germany (europeanparts.net) was $59 all up. and the aero wipers from supercheap were around $20 each. both these shouldn't mess with your warranty for the rest of the car, just ring Ford... knowing dealers, they'll probs say yes though :

Well i dont think it would be hard to remove the wiper motor out of the boot lid, its just a matter of unscrewing it all and removing the motor from the inside. The hole that left in the glass can be easily plugged with a rubber seal/grommet type thing.

I dont think it would effect your warranty ... ie no warranty on the Blade anyway. But if the Motor was to go ... Ford may jump up and down about it. Its a bosch wiper so same supplier just different model wiper. The likely hood of you having a problem with a wiper blade / Motor is Not likely. It cost me arround $60 from a holden dealer details as per my first post. I am sure if you quote the part numbers to some dealers they will be a bit cheaper.
