Hi All, how hard is it to do a service on an auto transmission? I have a huge slipping problem in top and the car drops back to second. Appreciate any pointers

a service may slow the slipping process down to a point
if the oil is brown it means the drive and friction plates have worn and will need to be replaced (thats a box out repair ) to change the auto oil if the pan has a drain pug undo that if not undo all the bolts around the pan until the oil starts dripping out over one side the filter is held on by screws clean all pan and the magnets / refit a new filter and fit a new pan gasket dont overtighten the pan gasket if it is a cork one refill the auto through the dipstick is the usuall method

very hard to fix a slipping a auto transmission!!! there is a planetary gearset that contains heaps of bands, clutches, and then there is the a network of spring-loaded valves, hydraulic servos, servo pistons ect ect. to fix your auto by yourself would be very risky. your best option would be to get it done by a professional

Thanks guys, looks as though it s a burn't out 3rd clutch in the gear box. I am getting that fixed and will let you know how it goes.
