Hi All, how hard is it to do a service on an auto transmission? I have a huge slipping problem in top and the car drops back to second. Appreciate any pointers

a service may slow the slipping process down to a point

if the oil is brown it means the drive and friction plates have worn and will need to be replaced (thats a box out repair )

to change the auto oil
if the pan has a drain pug undo that
if not undo all the bolts around the pan until the oil starts dripping out over one side

the filter is held on by screws

clean all pan and the magnets / refit a new filter and fit a new pan gasket

dont overtighten the pan gasket if it is a cork one

refill the auto through the dipstick is the usuall method

very hard to fix a slipping a auto transmission!!! there is a planetary gearset that contains heaps of bands, clutches, and then there is the a network of spring-loaded valves, hydraulic servos, servo pistons ect ect. to fix your auto by yourself would be very risky. your best option would be to get it done by a professional
