Default Its ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing beats the sound of an engine firing up for the first time!!! Especially with no exhaust : Four years ago i picked up a Nissan SR20 to go in an escort, though the escort never happened. In those four years I cleaned up and painted the motor and that's about it. Three months ago the motor was at this stage.

Today it looks like this

Yep today it fired for the first time, i'm very happy with it, it won't idle though thats just the ISC not being plummed properly, so that will be fixed shortly. For those who don't know is out of an S13 Silvia, it's the RWD drive version of the mottor fitted to the pulsar SSS. It's got 120kw, which i think will go nicely in an escort, when i get one.

What to do guys think???? Somethin different

Cheers

Adrian.

That'll certainly get an Eskie up an' goin'!

You've done your homework on what can be fitted into an Eskie, I hope?

I used to own an SR20 Silvia and yep the SR20 engines sound like some sort of modded truck when you start playing with the exhaust.

That engine should go quite nice in the Excort but if you want a real ball-tearer why not go the whole hog and convert it to an SR20DET. You have the engine out anyway, the turbo, intercooler ect. can be picked up for next to nothing from a jap wreckers - come on you know you want to!!!

Still to go - Holley Sniper EFI with integrated fuel cell.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm DET hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think i'll wait till it's actually in an escort before i consider going turbo, though it would rock.

Merlin i'm not sure about what you said 'pick them up for next to nothing' the parts for these motors aren't cheap and the availabilty on some isn't crash hot either. I took me weeks to chase down a jap wrecker who actually had a flywheel in stock, and the price, i won't go there. Lets just say i prefer the price of parts for my AU & BA.

No way - when i owned one (prob 5 years ago now) parts were very easy to come by and were usually pretty cheap (I'm in Sydney) but each state has pretty big import wreckers (I know adelaide does for instance who freight parts for next to nothing). Just buy High Perfromance Improts magazine and have a look through the ads to find some decent parts suppliers.

For example I replaced the whole rear suspension cradle on an S13 including brake rotors and a replacement headlight for under $500. I thought that was quite reasonable.

Merlin i'm in Sydney too, I had heaps of trouble, the wreckers i was dealing with were

JustJap - Kirawee
SSS - Giraween
Just Japanese Parts - Lansvale
Jap part centre - Lansvale

And several out of the Yellow pages.

I struggled with some parts because a soon as i said non turbo they fobbed me off.

This is what i paid

-Motor + Stater,Alternator PWR Steer & A/C pump $750 (SSS)
-Completer harness, Ignitor, Coil, AFM $300 (private of silvia forums)
-ECU $150 (SSS)
-Flywheel $170 (JPC)

On average when i was chasing the parts the other wreckers wanted double the price!!!

FRDXR6, i am a member of the silvia forums, some were helpful but most were useless. I contacted alot of their sponsors who said they had the parts in stock and then when i tried to purchase them they never returned my requests, Ford forums is way better.

The main thing is i got all the bits now & it runs!!!! As soon as i plumb the isc properly it will idle & then i can adjust the timing. Working out the wiring wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.
