Default Brake fuse problem

Just recently, like last week the ute has been blowing the brake fuse just about everytime I drive it. And it's only ever that fuse.

I know about the brake switch on the pedal and it may need replacing, but would a stronger fuse (like 20-30 instead of 15) stop fuses continually blowing?

No, don't put bigger fuses in. The wires will burn and melt.

Fair call. I won't be doing that.

What though would cause the fuse to just keep blowing like it does?

Have you thought of a low amp auto reset circuit breaker until you get the fuse sorted? saves on fuses :P

Check the power into the fuse and out... make you its not spiking.

I would be guessing a short in the brake light switch.
Only other thing could be the brake light globes themselves. Sometimes ( rarely )if they blow they can cause a short.

I checked the brake lights out before I changed the fuse and they were fine, always have been.

I'm thinking I need to get the brake switch changed.

Unfortunately when it comes to auto electrics I have no freaking idea.

You can do this to see if it is the brake light switch is the problem. unplug the plug from the switch get a paper clip straighten it out into u shape and push it into the plug the brake light should come on and if it blows the fuse then its not the switch.

I'd be checking this out as well ... it's usually the cause.
If you are not sure ... get a trusted auto sparky to check it out for you.
