LS focus fuel economy wrong

Well, had an LS focus for over a year now.

Computer trip says fuel consumption is 10.5L/100km.

Just wondering, is this in the high side? I read some other reports, and people suggesting they get 8-9km/100km for the city.

What are the obvious things i should check? other then tyre pressure

It really depends on the driving you are doing. If its pure city driving, that isn't so bad.

When I lived in Sydney, I got 9-10L/100km. Now living in Canberra, I consistently get 6.5L/100km. Same car, no mods. Though I do drive more granny like now.

My fuel consumption got up that high (10.5 - 10.7L / 100km) when my car's faulty thermostat was stuck open, meaning that the car took a long time to come up to full operating temp (15-20 mins). The engine revs higher when then engine is cooler, which meant that the faulty thermostat was causing the engine to rev higher for a long than normal period of time, therefore using more fuel. I replace the thermostat and I had an immediate decrease in fuel consumption.

Dont believe the trip computer because its only an indication,do your calculations when you fill the car up and work it out from there.
Ive never had a car with an accurate trip computer,ever...

is that an auto or manual? if it's an auto I'd say it's about right for 100% city driving. my manual gets low-mid 9s with pretty much pure city driving
