Default Is oil getting to valves rocker cover?

I just did the head gasket on my AUII egas. The top end is noisey since even though the guy who checked my head said it was fine...
It's hard to tell if there is adequate oil getting up there, so I've only let it run a few minutes since starting it and hearing the noise.
Is there a good way to be sure of that? If I have the filler cap off, should I be seeing oil splashing around in there somehow? How much oil is pushed up there, and how does it get up there?
Thanks
