Default would you rather have a heavy fast muscle car or an agile quick sports car?

Examples: Commodore SS vs Lotus Elise

These 2 are just examples, im just saying would you rather have a heavy drag racing car or a light weight autocross car?

i think the fact that this forum is mostly based around Falcon's and their variants, we're going to see most people going the heavy option :P

Hahah yeh good point although there is a variety of people on this forum for sure, but while saying that I am one of those people that would go the fast muscle car. Nothing beats the roar and attitude of a V8... nothing

I have one of each as my future projects (the one's I'll actually keep)
A big block XD - big, heavy and fast, and a 1UZ-FE V8 Supra - light (1050Kg) agile and fast.

Ultimately - a GT40 wide-body replica. But no ordinary replica, a fuel injected big block, all-wheel-drive, gear stick on the right, mid-engined beast. The most common replica use a Porsché G50 transaxle, so why not the AWD transaxle and drivetrain from the all-paw Carreras, etc.? And if its made to suit a 5L V8 Ford motor, surely a 429 SCJ could be wedged in; if not a Boss 290 that's been to DJR, and wearing the dishy DJR 19"s, 8s on the front, 12s on the back...

As you state the GT40 is mid engine, the Carrera 4 Porkers are rear engine so drive is taken from the back of the transaxle to the front diff, which would be facing the wrong way iin the GT40. Not impossible, just a lot more difficult!

My vote - sports car with muscle & practicality (& preferably a V8), even something like this... http://www.vorshlag.com/E36ProjectBook.asp, BMW 3 series coupe with a V8.

I thought a muscle car was a big, powerful engine (out of a truck or something) stuck into a nice light body?
But seriously, I'd go for the agile quick sports car. I like feeling the forces of a car as it accelerates, brakes, and goes through twisty bits.

Muscle car 'cos:
1. You can carry more than one other person
2. You can carry more than one small bag
3. You can use it to tow a trailer
4. You can scare people in sports cars ..

Man I like your attitude!
Also a grunty tourer and a fast bike is all good.
I read a review of some 440Cu or somesuch that was driven up into the Snowy mountains. The review raved about great handling and great POWER + it would suck the doors of your MaserLamboFerrari.

How about a light car with a big @rse motor? Like say a 427 Cobra?
I'd definately settle for a replica, though if it was muscle cars give me a 440 six pack Barracuda any day....
P.S Thay also bought out a 440 powered Phoenix (70 or 71) that I'd love to see in the driveway.

Very tough question.
It would have to depend on what my plans were for the car. Also I'd compare 0-100 times, top speed and handling of each.

I'd have to get one of each! :

If said sports car came with a CAMS santioned club and I could actually use it, I'd own a sports car.. Other than that, turn up at Willowbank in a barge pay your $$$ and hitting the go pedal would suffice

I'd rather have a heavy fast muscle car (like a GT...soon....) for cruising around/touring in and also own a sports bike - for when "quick and agile" is needed.

Best of both worlds.

SS a musclecar? :
I wouldn't call anything made after 1976 a musclecar...
By definition Musclecars have steel bumpers, are a special performance version of that model and are usually V8's.
The musclecar era in Australia panned from 1967 to 1976.
SS XR8 GT Clubsports etc are Large Modern performance, but not musclecars.....
So to answer you question id take the Musclecar, like an XYGT! :

After owning a 440 Magnum powered '67 Phoenix and the other extreme of a Honda S600 (with Datsun 1200 motor)....If only i could combine the both of them?!
But seriously Hemi powered muscle car that could blow the doors off anything ending in "I" (Ferarri,Maserati..)
