Hi All,
Missus' Mazda 2 got egged last night, been washed and light coat of polish, however there is definite markings (possible cracks) in the paint. Any tips or tricks or products I can try and use to smooth it over before getting a repair bill? It's a dark colour too if that makes any difference? God it annoys me the little crapheads that do this stuff.

Bad luck Sgt,eggs are not good for paint.
Try doing a google search just might get lucky. Apart from that it might come good with a fine cut and polish.

Have a close look at the "cracks" in the paint, you may find that they are in fact scratches from the egg shells. I got the same treatment years ago and had perfectly round sunburst patterns everywhere from the eggshells as the eggs exploded on impact, the marks were right through the paint to the undercoat.

slapping said little crap stalker upside the head what goes around comes around
short of that eggs are very bad news for car paintwork, perhaps an insurance claim? I have seen a person "egged" once the eggshell chopped him up and made him bleed, not to mention having a slimy raw egg all over him (he got hit in the back of the neck) what say we ban supermarkets from selling eggs after 6 pm many a time I see a group of little craps come into supermarket and buy 2 or 3 dozen eggs at around 9 pm, clearly everybody knows what they are for always the cheapest ones on the shelf...

Yeah it's certainly extremely frustrating. Also bad timing as if it had happened to her old car she wouldn't of cared one bit, but now that she really enjoys her car it makes it so much worse..

Eggs are really quite hard for such a perceived fragile object. With cars they tent to crack the paint and as such mostly cannot be polished out. The enzymes also like to eat clearcoat if left unattended.

At best, it will need a very good polish of the affected area, it all depends on how deep the damage is from the shell.
If it's gone through the clearcoat into the basecoat/primer, then it can't be saved, but it's appearance will be vastly improved with a good polish. If (luckily) the damage hasn't penetrated the entire clearcoat, then it can be buffed out, but to be honest this is an unlikely scenario. Put up some pics if you can...

If the clear coat is scratched or damaged, someone handy with an airbrush can repair these or alternatively a clear coat repair pen can be used these are available on ebay or at car parts stores and are perfect for the DIY car owner and work really well if left to cure for a week then you polish the repaired area, these are a great little thing to have in your car care kit and I wish they had been available when I owned my detailing business years ago.
