This is a fund raiser for special little angel called Amber who has Mucopolysaccharidoses Hurler syndrome. Not many people have heard of this syndrome but it is a life threatening disease for which there is no cure. For the number of children who have this syndrome, their total life expectancy is between the ages of four and ten. Amber has us all in her determination and courage by turning aged 11 this year. This is by no means a miracle, but it just shows the passion for life this little one has and her determination to continue to bring happiness, joy, laughs, hugs and smiles to all those around her.
A trivia night has been organised to raise serious funds for the updating of Amber’s wheelchair, which is by no mean feat a real speed machine and very technical. There is also the continual expenses of medicines and other items which are required by her Mum and Dad,Tracy and Mark on a daily basis. Also with the hospital and medical travel interstate we are aiming to help raise money towards a second hand car if we can. This is being hosted at the Belconnen Soccer Club, Hawker on 12th April at 7pm. It'll cost of $20 per person, 10 people per table. And there'll be light snacks and nibblies provided. At the last meeting someone mentioned doing something for charity or getting involved with something in the community. Here's an opportunity for to help with a good cause guys. Surely we can get one or two tables together for this one. We'll need to get some names down though, dont want to leave our booking until two days before.

I know I'm not a member now, but considering the cause, I'm in if you'll have me.

2. Dave C & Kerry 3. Karen & Brent 4. Andrew & Dianne 5. Derek 6. Phil That's 10 people. The table has been booked and just in time, this trivia night has been popular. We've also been asked if we could start paying up front too, with limited seats the organisers would like some guarantee of attendance. So if you can give me your $20 at the meeting on Thursday night and I'll see to it that its paid.

Hi everyone,
Just a reminder about this - it's on this Saturday night at 7pm (aim to arrive at 6.45) at the Belconnen Soccer Club, Belconnen Way, Hawker (see map). Could everyone please wear their club shirts? If anyone is unable to make it, please let me know immediately as there are some people who can take your place and for something like this we don't want to have empty seats! |

Good luck for this evening guys. I'll endeavour to be there however I'm pretty crook at the moment. Ask for "Sue" when you get there, she'll have your tickets.
Thanks in advance for your support

A great night was had by all in which approx $22K was raised towards assisting Amber and her family deal with some of life's challenges. Our sincere thanks to the Belconnen Soccer Club and all the sponsors and support staff who made it a night to remember. It would be remiss of me not to mention that the FPV & XR Club of the ACT excelled by winning the quiz night against some very stiff opposition, especially Basil's Beauties. Great effort team.

An update on Amber;
Her family thanks the club for their support during the Trivia night. They were able to purchase the Chair, the special lift for the bath and a car suitable for her. The Chair and Car were delivered to the family last Tuesday 13th May. Amber was doing well and on Wednesday evening her mother left her alone for a moment in front of the TV and when she returned Amber had passed away.
