Unhappy Fiesta fuel cut out issue

I have a 2009 1.4l Fiesta auto that cuts out going around left corners when the fuel is below approx one third of a tank. Does anyone know if this is an expensive fix? I am considering getting rid of the car if it is.
I have heard it may be a swell pot in the fuel tank or an air leak in the fuel system.
