Default Vin decode

Hi Everyone,
I was hoping to get some assistance with decoding my VIN number
please.CG78EU12722231269. It's a Mk1 GT Cortina

That would not be the original VIN, the 17 digit convention didn’t come in till the late 80’s, I think.

231269 if that's any help

Gary1964 your Cortina decodes as follows:
CG78EU is the Chassis Prefix where:
C= Ford of Britain (Export product, usually as a CKD kit)
G= Broadmeadows, Vic (Assembly Plant)
78= 4-door GT
E= 1965
U= February
12722= Unique Vehicle Serial Number
231269= NOT the Chassis Number but the SIDO (Single Item Dealer Order) number.
It should also have a Model number code like 27232 as well as a Paint code and a Trim code.
