Default xb coupe wiring

Hello Fellow Members !st time I've used forum and I am hoping someone can help me...
1.. Is there any difference in an xb 6 cyl and an 8 cyl wiring ?
2...Is there a different wiring loom under dash for a GS/GT and a JGS special ?
3.. I've been told that '74 xb wiring is different to that of of an '75 xb right through from bonnet to boot ?

My son has just purchased a '75 John Goss Special for restoration (AU 20K) and a hell of a lot of spares (which is too many to post here) and he has the original 302 motor which matches up with V I N.No / Shocker Tower No and Ford Cust. Relations has confirmed that all is "above board ";
I know that he will be putting a 351 into it and it will not be 100% as built , but he wants it to be this way hence my ? "No1 "... Any info fellow members can give would be greatly appreciated and I Look forward to many more threads in future and will post photos of progress , as other members have done on the restoration in future Thank you Kanga2311

I think the harness would be the same. The Tacho will be different between the 6 and 8 cylinder though.

I imagine the JGS special wouldn't have electrical changes, and would use the same harness. Any changes would be mechanical/body kit.

Good luck with the project, Kanga.
It's a great way to spend a bit more time with the young bloke and hopefully pass on some knowledge an a love of '70's classic muscle.
There will certainly be a few minor wiring changes between various confirguration of cars. (gs/gt Vs. Falcon 500) (6 Vs 8).
If you're in Victoria, Tas at Palace Automotive in Moorabbin specialises in Falcon Coupes and is always working on a few in the workshop. He is a great source of knowledge on the various differences.
As for wiring looms, the best advice I got when restoring my GT was: 'invest in a new one'. My original one wasn't too bad, but after 40 years, they can become brittle and wires can break. You'll then suffer reliability issues and worse, it can start a fire.
A new loom has given me piece of mind and no problems. I used "Classic Wiring Looms' in Lilydale. They had the templates for every type of car and make the loom to exactly what options the car had from new. It's much easier to install because everything is as it should be. What I thought was going to be one of the big nightmares of the resto, turned into an easy 1/2 day of threading a brand new loom through the recently painted body. Not sure if Classic Wiring Looms still exist, but I sure there's others. The loom may not be something that people will see, but it's a hard thing to replace AFTER you've finished the resto.
Good Luck again.
